THE ROCK And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church..." Matthew 16:18

Volume 30 Issue 6 JUNE 2019 Newsletter Subtitle Month Year

Pass It On Throughout my life, the love of God has touched me through the church. Loving Sunday School teachers taught me about the Bible. Choir directors instructed me on how to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Youth leaders provided fellowship and worship opportunities. Some of my favorite moments were in our closing youth group sessions on Sunday nights when we would sing in the chapel. One of my favorite was Pass It On.

St. Peter's is a church that has touched my life along with those in my family.

Why is that? It's because this church is great at passing God's love and Kingdom opportunities to a new generation. Rev. Dr. Mark Caldwell I have seen this passing of God's love and so many wonderful ways. Mary Hubbard passed the children's music ministry off to Jenn Morgan; Pastor Emily passed the high seasons prep over to Diane Bilancia and her team; Pat Banks passed the CEC over to Lori Maxwell. And now, it is my turn to pass the pastoral leadership over to Pastor Cory. If the past is any indicator, this transition will go well because this church is centered in Christ's love. That love transfers as does the Spirit-anointed leaders such as those just named. There are many other examples of these exchanges of Christian leadership within the church.

Another facet to passing something on is to know you have something to give. This church is loaded with Christians who give in ways such as folding bulletins, cleaning the sanctuary pews, knitting prayer shawls, teaching classes, changing the paraments, delivering flowers, setting up communion, gleaning produce, working with pumpkins, practicing with choirs, traveling to Cuba, volunteering with CROS, painting homes, serving on Emmaus/Kairos/Chrysalis teams, driving church vehicles and more. This is a reflection on the reality that St. Peter's is able to pass the love of Christ on to another person as well as another generation.

It has been a joy to serve as your pastor for these four years. In the scope of Christian time, there is never a final good-bye. There will be moments where we may cross paths at some juncture, but in the end, we will all be together because of the grace of Christ. So, I leave you with the encouragement to keep passing on the love of Christ to your new pastor, the next generation and those newcomers who will certainly join this fantastic journey as incoming members of St. Peter's! In God's love,

Mark

Your notes and love offering Contemporary have encouraged my faith and allowed me to reflect on the many great 9:30 am things that we have accomplished in this chapter. Great things happen when faithful Christians are inspired and encouraged to minister with Sunday School All Ages each other to a world in need of Jesus' gospel. We have seen that 9:30 am happen and your expressions affirm much of that. I also am grateful for your outpouring of generosity to wish us well through the love offering that you so generously contributed to. Traditional Music by Jim Sheldrake It has been a quick two months! God continues to bless our choir as we lead 11:00 worship each Sunday. May was a busy month as we recognized and celebrated promotions, graduations, and, of course, moms!

You won't want to miss the combined worship service on Sunday, June 2 as we bless Pastor Caldwell and his family in their ministry.

We will have the Chancel Choir and the Praise Singers and Band leading worship. We might even see if Copeland Davis will do a little something special to commemorate the day! Bring your voices and sing with joy...and remember to tell your face!

Our Chancel Choir will take its annual summer hiatus from July 15 through September 1. For those of you who are considering joining us in the fall (and we know who you are....remember, you told us after you sang "Hallelujah" with us on Easter!), we will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, August 28, 7- 8:30 pm in the sanctuary. See you there!

SALTY SERVICE INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS One For Israel- Eitan Bar The team at One For Israel is asking for us to pray for significant people in the public eye to come to faith and lead many others to Jesus. As a result of the "most amazing testimonial videos" of Jews finding their Jewish identity in Jesus Christ (Hebrew-Yeshua), Jeff Morgan, a famous health and fitness expert, came to faith. His entire family followed suit. Many are finding they can be Jewish AND believe in Jesus.

Zambia- Nate Steury and the Enrights Nate is traveling in the USA at this time; therefore, there is no newsletter at this time.

Liberia- Johannes and Lena Ebner Please pray for them. We have not received any word from them this month.

Cuba- Puerta de Golpe The wall to protect the church from thieves has been completed thanks to St. Peter's generosity. They are in the process of cementing the back area of the church for community activities. According to the pastor, it will look like a park when finished. Pastor Petity is fortunate to have a motorcycle. Since food is scarce, he has to go to the next town to buy food. The spark plugs stopped working. He asked if we could buy spark plugs here and send them with someone visiting Cuba as it is difficult to buy them there. Unfortunately, his motorcycle is Russian. The stores here do not sell spark plugs compatible with Russian vehicles.

Alonso de Rojas-Arturo Silot Cuba is going through a tough time. There is a shortage of food. The store refrigerators are empty in Alonso de Rojas. People have to form lines to get what food is available. The police are there to prevent angry people from causing disruptions. Conditions are so bad there that, if things don't improve, we may not be able to visit our sister churches next year. Please pray for the people of Cuba at this difficult time.

In His service, Carol Walters Curtis and Ann Lewis
