Announcement of academic position in ,

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University Olomouc, in the Czech Republic, in cooperation with Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P. – Portugal, hereby invites applications for selection proceedings for the posts of an assistant professor (or associate professor, depending on the relevance of the CV presented) at the Department of Romance Studies.

Discipline / professional field: Portuguese Linguistics

Working hours: full time, i.e. 14 hours, including 4 hours in and . Permanent stay in Olomouc during the academic year is required.

Commencement of employment: 1 January 2019.

Salary: 360,000 CZK (approx. 14,000 €) + bonus of 7,200 € per year (total: 21,200 € per year). This amount can be adjusted according to the candidate’s CV.

Other benefits: social security and health insurance, access to research programmes, possibility of participation in international mobility of teachers and researchers.

Qualification requirements:  Ph.D. in Portuguese Linguistics, Portuguese Philology, Portuguese Studies or similar;  respectable publication activity in the discipline;  research quality and innovation in the respective field;  under and postgraduate teaching experience;  prerequisites for the successful habilitation to become associate professor no later than in 5 years. The habilitation criteria include one research book different from the Ph.D thesis, min. 20 articles/chapters (among them min. 3 in journals indexed on WOS, Scopus and ERIH), min. 20 quotations of candidate’s publications;  native or near-native fluency in Portuguese;  experience in the preparation and submission of academic projects is welcome, although not obligatory;

General information about Palacký University Olomouc Palacký University Olomouc is the second-oldest university in the Czech Republic, educating scholars since the 16th century. Faculty of Arts The Faculty of Arts is the largest UP faculty and offers more than 600 combinations of humanities, social, linguistic, and arts studies programmes. An open space for discussion is promoted and creative thinking is welcome. Department of Romance Studies The department includes courses of Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese Language and Literature, offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. It also offers a Ph.D programme in Romance Languages and Romance Literatures. It’s is among the most productive departments of the Faculty in the field of research and it is singular for its cosmopolitan character and international collaboration.
