2020 Criteria and Nomination Submission

Entry Eligibility: To enter Northern Women in Business Awards 2020, you must be a woman who resides or works in Northern Queensland and is either an Australian citizen or has Australian residency status.

Northern Queensland Awards includes the areas of:

Townsville, Mt Isa, , Cloncurry, Ayr, Home Hill, Inham, Mackay, Cairns, and surrounding areas. Home Hill, Sarina, Bowen, and Proserpine. Abbot Point, Whitsundays, Yarraah, Cairns area.

Including Council Regions: , , , Aboriginal Shire of Palm Island, City of , ,

• Applications are open to all women in business, not only business owners.

• The Community Dedication Award is open to all women who have made a difference in the community either through their contribution as a volunteer or by providing a service.

• Nomination Submission to be received by Awards Secretariat before close of business (5pm) September 15, 2020.

• A maximum of two (2) different Award Category entries per person. A separate entry may be submitted for each Category. The Judging Panel reserves the right to redirect applications to another Award Category.

• Entries will only be accepted in the provided format with all questions answered and correct information and administration fee provided.

2020 AWARDS Categories

Celebrating the achievements of women across Northern Queensland

1: Northern Queensland Woman in Business of the Year Award

This category will honor the region’s inspiring innovators and visionaries. This category is open to entrepreneurs who have achieved accomplishments of significance over their career. Nominees will possess qualities of vision, innovation, entrepreneurial drive, leadership, individuality, tenacity and demonstrate their commitment to gender diversity.

2: Community Dedication Award

This category will recognise the candidate’s contribution to the community, civic or sporting cause. The entrant will demonstrate dedication to either Northern QLD region or global initiatives through her current & past charity and voluntary work and community endeavors.

3: Regional Industry Award

This category is open to candidates who demonstrate a high level of passion and accomplishment in a regional industry sector. Sectors include tourism, agriculture, mining, health, education, marine, aviation, construction and associated regional industries. Candidates will have a solid depth of knowledge of the nominated industry and have a strong desire to be part of its future growth in the region.

4: Rising Star Award

As a tribute to commitment small business and growing enterprises across the region, this prestigious Award celebrates a visionary and dedicated woman who is doing extraordinary work and addressing critical issues across the region through her work in a small business or growing enterprise.

Nomination requirements – Must be completed and returned by September 15, 2020 If you or somebody you know deserves to be honored by entering Queensland’s preeminent Awards for women, forward your Nomination Form and $45 nomination fee with the following entry: (If posting, 3 copies of the entire entry including answers to all below questions must be included for judging purposes)

CV or written document to include: (Answers to below questions: a maximum of 200 words per answer)

1. On Front Cover of Nomination provide up to a 200-word overview of Candidate, experience and why they have been nominated with colour image.

2. The candidate’s work / career history key achievements, educational history, and industry contribution.

3. The candidate’s role and contribution to a current project/venture/work or educational venture.

4. If appliable, the candidate/s contribution to the community, include current & past charity and voluntary work.

5. The candidate’s vision/plans outlining specific future ambitions and goals (show specific projects successfully undertaken to date if possible).

6. What makes the candidate worthy of winning their selected category?

7. Supporting submission material NB: This can include the following: press cuttings, marketing materials, supporting letters and testimonials.

9. Three Referees listed. Complete with name, position, relationship to the entrant and contact day phone number . 10: Fully completed Nomination Form to be returned with Awards entry.

Important information All shortlisted candidates will be required to be avail available for Category Judging dates to be advised upon acceptance to interview stage (zoom interview). The dates will be advised by email correspondence within 14-21 business days of the Awards Nomination Closing Date.

Judging Panel: Made up of well respected and experienced members of Queensland’s business community. Once the candidate’s entry is processed following Nomination closing date - no refund will be provided.

Category Finalists and Winners will be officially announced in line with 2020 Queensland Awards program.
