FAR NORTH REGION The Far North region covers the large and diverse region from Tully in the south to the Torres Strait in the north and Croydon in the west. This region follows the Far North Queensland Medicare Local boundaries. REGIONAL HEALTH ORGANISATIONS The Far North region comprises of the following Medicare Local, Hospital and Health Services and Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Organisation. CheckUP and QAIHC in collaboration with regional health organisations will support the delivery of outreach heatlh services under the Rural Health Outreach Fund (RHOF) and the Medical Outreach Indigenous Chronic Disease Program (MOICDP). This region follows the boundaries of the Townsville Mackay Medicare Local. This region follows the boundaries of the Central North West Queensland Medicare Local. REGIONAL HEALTH ORGANISATIONS The North West region comprises of the following Medicare Local, Hospital and Health Services and Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations. The majority of HHS residents will access (HHS)) inpatient treatment within the HHS area. However, the communities within the Boulia and Diamantina areas travel outside the HHS to Mt Isa Hospital for inpatient care and there are relatively significant flows of patients to Rockhampton and Townsville. The Wide Bay Health Service is serviced by Bundaberg Hospital (the main referral centre) and hospitals at: Gin Gin Childers Biggenden Eidsvold Mundubbera Multipurpose Health Facilities at: Gayndah Monto Mount Perry Health Services. This region follows the boundaries of two Medicare Locals (Darling Downs – South West Queensland and West Moreton - Oxley Medicare Local) combined.
