Anti-Slavery newspaper created by & Isaac Knapp. It was first published in 1831. The newspaper lasted 35 years from January 1st, 1831- December 29, 1865.

Lincoln and the founders of the Liberator were both against slavery.

Lincoln started planning for the reconstruction of the South during the Civil War when Union soldiers took up huge areas of the South. - Period after the civil war - South reorganized its government systems to account for the end of slavery. - Also too guarantees African American men the right to vote.

The U.S presidential election of 1876 was one of the most debated presidential elections in American history. Samuel Tilden from New York outpolled Rutherford B. Hayes from Ohio in a popular vote, and had 184 electoral votes to Hayes' 165. Rutherford B. Hayes
