4 Reader A READING FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS [10:34-43].

Peter began to speak to Cornelius and the other Gentiles: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ--he is Lord of all. That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint Jesus. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the

As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.” So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

THE RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL VOWS

Celebrant Through the Paschal mystery, dear friends, we are buried with Christ by Baptism into his death, and raised with him to newness of life. I call upon you, therefore, now that our Lenten observance is ended, to renew the solemn promises and vows of Holy Baptism, by which we once renounced Satan and all his works, and promised to serve God faithfully in the holy .

Celebrant Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? People I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the woman Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Creator. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

6 Celebrant Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? People I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Celebrant Will you continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers? People I will, with God’s help.

Celebrant Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord? People I will, with God’s help.

Emilee Walker- Leader God of truth, we acknowledge the pervasive presence of racism Cornetta in our country’s origins, in our institutions and politics, in our diocese and its churches, and in our hearts. Some of us are much too familiar with racism’s many violent aggressions. Others of us, particularly White Americans, have at times chosen the false comfort of ignorance over the cost and freedom of truth. For this willful disregard and the harm it has caused, we repent. For the many ways—social, economic, and political— that white supremacy has accrued benefits to some of us at the expense of others, we repent. For the ways that racist ideology has bled into all our hearts and corrupted our minds, we repent. Grant us courage to pursue your truth and be found by it, to listen and be heard, and to respond ever more faithfully to your call to justice.

Celebrant Gracious Eternal and Loving God, you have anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and raised him from death on the cross into resurrection life: Feed us with his life as we eat and drink with him in this Eucharist, that we may be his witnesses, sharing in the Spirit’s work of reconciliation and peace, through the Risen One, Jesus Christ our Savior.

PRINTED WITH A DEMONSTRATION COPY OF Sibelius Sibelius BREAKING OF THE BREAD The Celebrant breaks the consecrated Bread. A period of silence is kept.

Celebrant We break this bread to share in the Body of Christ. All We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

While the consecrated gifts are prepared for distribution, we sing:

Led by St. Mark’s Choir

When and are ready, the party elevates the gifts and the Celebrant says:

Celebrant The gifts of God for the people of God. All May we who share these gifts be found in Christ and Christ in us.

If you do not wish to receive Communion, you are invited to receive a blessing from the Celebrant.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Celebrant Let us pray. People Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your im- age and nourishing us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of Christ’s Body and Blood. Now send us forth a people, for- given, healed, renewed; that we may proclaim your love to the world and continue in the risen life of Christ our Savior.
