Every day great things are happening in our community. Here are some of the projects we have on the go right now. We are building a new multi-million dollar twin-pad arena and library in our east end. This facility will serve our community for generations. Along with two NHL-size ice pads, amenities will include an indoor walking track and modern library services and programs. At the same time, we are redeveloping a section of our world famous waterfront, creating a new space that will include housing, shops, and a community square. In the west end of town, a new casino is in the works. You can learn more in this publication. The municipality looks forward to when economic conditions and the pandemic allow construction to start. Throughout Wasaga Beach, we have several additional projects coming online, including new accommodations for seniors and great new places to eat. Wasaga Beach offers an array of housing. This includes contemporary neighbourhoods with lush lawns and landscaping, tidy condominiums you can lock and leave, sprawling estate-style homes, cottages, and stunning waterfront properties with gorgeous views. We really have something for everyone. When it comes to shopping, Wasaga Beach offers a variety of options. You can nd big box stores as well as small shops where you can really get to know the owners and staff. First-rate medical care is available in town and nearby. We are home to several family practices and a community health centre. -

This report builds on the Phase 1 Feasibility Study submitted in April 2010, and identifies a detailed implementation plan for the short-term to operate inter-municipal transit services in the County. Although our time together was cut short, I’m grateful for all that first year brought us. 2 Executive Summary Background & Context The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has radically impacted public transport ridership and service provision across the country. Since the outbreak of the virus, transit agencies have had to adapt to new and rapidly evolving conditions. Many agencies modified services to reflect lower ridership levels and to ensure the safety of both riders and operators. These changes in service were guided by public health agencies, as well as major transit associations like the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) and International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Other agencies implemented precautionary measures like rear door boarding, temporary fare suspension, and reduced capacity limits to enable the safe continuity of operations. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, transit agencies are having to strike a balance between providing enough transportation options for essential travel and reducing service offerings to match the declining overall demand for mobility services. -

At the May 22, 2012 meeting of Regional Council, the following motion was put and passed: Request that Metro Transit come to Regional Council one month prior to budget presentations to present any proposed changes to Metro Transit service so that Council has ample time to debate the proposed changes before the budget comes to Council. LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY Halifax Charter, section 35 (1) The Chief Administrative Officer shall (b) ensure that an annual budget is prepared and submitted to the Council. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Budget Committee direct staff to prepare the Halifax Transit’s 2019/20 Multi- year Budget and Business Plan, as proposed in the accompanying presentation, based on the 1.9% option, and to prepare Over and Under items for that Plan as directed by Regional Council. BACKGROUND As part of the design of the 2019/20 Budget and Business Plan development process, the Budget Committee is reviewing each Business Unit’s budget and proposed plans, in advance of completing detailed HRM Budget and Business Plan preparation. -
