Otterington Hall Otterington Hall originally dates from the early 19th Century with later Victorian additions. It is understood that this is only the second time that the estate has been on the market since 1926. The house is approached through electronic gates at the Gate Lodge, along a driveway which passes through parkland and woodland up to the front of the house, also spurring off to the rear and to the cottages. The house is constructed of red brick under a slate roof. The central portion of the house is set forward slightly in front of the two adjoining wings with semi-circular steps leading up to a 6 panelled door with a fan light window over, in a semi-circular porch with two Doric half columns and two pilasters supporting a frieze and cornice. Either side of the door there are large sash windows. The house is set centrally within its land and has fabulous views. The property has been well maintained by the present owners and retains many attractive features including ornate plasterwork, ceiling roses, window shutters in many of the main reception rooms, decorative fireplaces and tall sash windows throughout. The principal reception rooms lead from the reception hall and include the large, well-proportioned drawing room, dining room and family room. Doors lead from the hall and the drawing room through into the south east facing kitchen/breakfast room, a large room with two sets of double doors leading out into the gardens. Further reception rooms include the playroom, study and office. There are also three downstairs WCs, a utility room and pantry. The sweeping staircase leads to an open landing on the first floor and an inner landing, with cupboards, leading to the master bedroom with ensuite dressing room and bathroom along with two further adjacent bedrooms. There is one further bedroom with an ensuite dressing room and bathroom, two bedrooms with a Jack & Jill shower room, three further bedrooms and two bathrooms. Stairs lead up to a second floor where there is attic space with the potential to convert into further accommodation. To the rear of the house there is a self-contained three bedroom guest / staff annexe, which has a separate access. Mr Paul Vayro 10 Beechfield, South Otterington, North Yorkshire, DL7 9JJ. Date: 20th November 2017 F.A.O. Diane Parsons North Yorkshire Police & Crime Commission c/o County Hall, Racecourse Lane, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8AD. Dear Sirs RE: Sale of Newby Wiske Hall to PGL Travel Ltd I write again regarding the above planned sale to PGL, after attending last Thursdays NYPCC public Q & A forum in York, I am even more disgusted, with NYPCC who are after all supposed to uphold and represent the moral fibre of our society. Following the points made by Mr David Stockport, you would have thought that at least there would have been an acceptance of the points made; instead the Chairman was so indignant to the fact, that someone should dare to suggest that a public body should show even a modicum of moral fibre, in the respect of the Paradise Papers, and the massive negative effect these schemes have on Public Finances and Services, instead the response by the Chairman was, its nothing to do with us, so let’s move on. I repeat, this company are so heavily and extensively involved in a scheme to avoid paying tax in the UK, they receive tax handouts for listed buildings, significant Government subsidies for assisted places (This would be perfectly acceptable if they paid their full taxes to the UK Government), only then to operate a tax avoidance scheme, meaning we, the British tax payer, would be helping them pay even less tax, which could be used to support ALL OUR UNDERFUNDED PUBLIC SERVICES including the POLICE.
