A huge entry of over 1800 sheep sold really well to a top call of £95 for a pen of cull ewes on behalf of the Huxtable family of Huntshaw.

Overall top call of the day was £93.20 for Hoggs in from Mr Turner of Penleaze, Marhamchurch for a pen of 26 with the same good farm selling another 25 at £92.80.

Ken Hill of hit £92 and £91.50 for 28 (49kg) hoggs with both Messrs George of Looseham Farm, & Messrs Cowling of Trencreek, Bude exceeding the £90 bracket. Plenty of hoggs from £87 to £90 to include 3 separate vendors selling 50 hoggs averaging £88. Premium on the day was set at 204p/kg for Messrs Weighell of .

371 DRAFT EWES A strong entry of ewes sold to a slightly better trade with a top call of £95.50 for Messrs Huxtable of Garnacott, Huntshaw with Messrs Lewis at £94. Plenty of vendors selling stronger types between £82-£87 with the best of the ‘Meaty Hill types’ to £60 on behalf of 2 vendors. Best cull rams reached £84.50 for J. Collings of Bideford.

204 STORE LAMBS A nice entry saw a top call of £80 for a pen of well bred stores in from with others to £74.50 and £73 for 2 pens (60) in from Messrs Govier & Son of . Rodney Huxtable of sold at £73.50 with John Middleton of Woolacombe at £72 for his pen full of 23. Steve Johns sold a nice run of clipped st Suffolk x Store Hoggs with his 1 pen at £71.50 and his line up of 42 averaging over £67.

A superb trade today in Welsh Black 1 212 212 1 92 92 the Limousin pens with a well presented run of Limousin Bulls in from Messrs Monks of hitting £380 with other 5 week old bulls at £320 & £290 (x2) from the same farm.

Topping the Angus section was Messrs D.J Thomas & Son of Launceston after a break from selling calves at any market for over 50 years! Their topping 4 week old bull reached £330 with other Angus bulls from Kevin Parsons of Jacobstow at £290. Best Herefords came in from John Colgrove of St Ewe at £212 with the best Charolais bulls reaching £265 for Messrs Vanstone of Bideford.

Rob Squire of Torrington saw his Simmental Bull top that section at £290 with an outstanding 4 week old Welsh Black for Messrs Isaac hit £212. Holstein bulls met a “Proper trade” with Alan Tucker & family of reaching £170 for a 4 week old bull with the best from Messrs Hawking of at £150 with the top black & White bulls average standing at a tremendous £93.50.

Today’s Folk2Folk Champion calf was a lovely Limousin Heifer in from Steve Isaac of which raced away to £300 selling to Messrs Easterbrook of Torrington.

Best Blue heifers topped at £330 for Kevin Parsons of North Cornwall with Messrs Home at £270 (x2) and John Colgrove at £210. Plenty of Hereford heifers over £200 with Angus heifers hittng £175.

Today Kivells awarded the Stoneleigh Cup to Messrs Hockridge of Bideford for the highest priced calf sired by a Stoneleigh Bull owned by Messrs E.C Haste & Son.
