An Exciting start to the New Year for Torrington 100! Our two Community Developers, Cathy and Bridget have been busy visiting Parish Councils, village coffee mornings, local organisations and activity groups to support new initiatives and discuss ideas to extend existing ones, which will help the well-being of many local people. SMALL GRANT APPLICATION IN PROGRESS! We’re very excited about our Torrington 100 Small Grant Scheme that is currently open for applications. Groups in Great Torrington and the sixteen villages we work with, (see below) are invited to put in an application to us for seed funding of £500 by January 31st. Successful bids will be selected by members of The Torrington 100 Steering Group. Petrockstowe) SUPPORTING HUNTSHAW AND ALVERDISCOTT VILLAGE HALL VENUES. Look out for us at Huntshaw Village Hall on January 25th when we’ll be working with the Village Hall Committee at their Open Day. Come along with your photos of events/activities and people in the Alverdiscott/ Huntshaw area and tell us all about them. We’ll be connecting with ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) helping them to celebrate Village Hall Week. As well as this, The Plough Arts Centre’s Outreach worker Jennie Dodd, will be leading some story-telling for those children and adults who would like to take part, So come along and meet your Village Hall Committee and our Community Developer Cathy Richards. WORKING WITH THE PLOUGH ARTS CENTRE Art and dementia workshops. Starting 5th Fen 202 for 4 weeks at The Plough. There will be a new series of art workshops for people with dementia which will be run by our Community Developer Bridget, an artist in her own right, at the Plough. New Plough Workshops with some subsidized places, The Plough are also starting regular workshops in art, dance, music, hoola-hooping and more, which will have a few subsidised places available. Our website is now up and running, www.torrington100.co.uk, with plenty of news and information about what the team are up to at Torrington 100. We are compiling a DIRECTORY of activities happening in Great Torrington and the villages, so do let us know if you would like to be included in that. People will have a central place to go to look for activities in the local area that will benefit physical and mental well-being. So as we head into a new decade, everyone at Torrington 100 is looking forward to making even more new connections between local organisations and local residents and to offering support in our vibrant and diverse community.
