The average* student who transfer to City College achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.09 The average* student who transfers to City College has completed 63.1 credits Maximum credits accepted from associates degree granting institutions is 70 credits Maximum credits accepted from bachelor’s degree granting institutions is 90 credits Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 2.25 to be considered for admission *Average GPA is not a minimum requirement, students are routinely admitted with GPA’s above and below this number.

Transfer Admission Requirements Completed 24 college level credits or more and take the CUNY Assessment Test (Transfer students who have completed a three credit college-level English or Math course with a grade of C or better are exempt from the CUNY Reading and Writing exams and/or Math exams.)

CUNY Pathways & General Education Requirements

If you have earned an Associates of Arts (AA) or an Associates of Science (AS) you are waived from CUNYs common core and half of their individual college option requirements.

If you have earned an Associates of Applied Sciences (AAS) you are waived from pathway courses that you have completed at LaGuardia.

If you have NOT completed an Associate’s degree, CUNY senior will require you to complete up to 12 credits as part of their college option.

Grove School of (GROE) The most important fact about getting into the Grove School of Engineering at The City College of New York is also the most obvious one: First you have to get into The City College. To apply to CUNY, and for most CUNY admissions information, please visit the CUNY admissions page at: http://www2.cuny.edu/admissions/ Transfer Requirements 1. Achieved a minimum overall GPA of 2.7 in his/her college courses; 2. Achieved a minimum 2.5 GPA in college math and science courses, with none of these grades belowC; 3. Passed calculus; (at LaGuardia MAT 201 and MAT 202) 4. Demonstrated proficiency, evidenced by his/her transcript, in math and science; and 5. Completed 24 or more college-level credits.

The math and science GPA is calculated using physics, chemistry and biology courses, and math courses at the pre-calculus level and above; and proficiency in science must be demonstrated by completion of a calculus-based general physics course. (Applicants to the Computer Science program may substitute a general chemistry or biology course.

The math and science GPA is calculated using the grades from every time that each course was taken. If a course was repeated, there is no “F repeat policy” of dropping the earlier grade from the calculation. Also, “none of these grades below C” applies. In order to be eligible for the Grove School of Engineering, students complete of at least 45 credits with an overall GPA of 2.25 or higher.
