    DISTRIBUTION OF LIFE FORCE IN THE FESTIVAL OF THE VALLEY -A Comparative Study with the Opet Festival- Masashi FUK.AYA * Among known festivals celebrated in ancient Thebes, many Egyptologists agree that the Festivals of the Valley and of Opet are the most important. This is verified by many historical documents, which juxtapose the two festivals in texts and pictorial depictions on a great scale. Thus, it is significant to compare the two festivals to obtain better insight into their detailed religious context and new perspectives for further research, which has not been pursued, particularly for the Valley Festival, since the 1950's. This article intends to shed light on the Valley Festival, focusing on the socio-religious function by an analogy with the Opet Festival, research of which has gained modest but not negligible progress in the last two decades. The most distinct feature of the Valley Festival was that it supplied not only a formal setting for the renewal of kingship and royal ancestral cult, but also a private setting for the common people to hold a banquet in their family tombs. These two dimensions were closely linked through the figure of Amen, who distributed offerings to convey his godly power in both spheres. According to records from the private tombs, the people received various offerings from the temples where the procession of Amen made a stop during the Valley Festival. Yet the distribution of temple offerings is not attributed only to the Valley Festival, but also to many other festivals. What distinguishes the Valley Festival then? By focusing on the differences in ideologies between the Valley and the Opet Festivals, this paper will explore how the god (or king) and the people were interrelated during the festivals in different manners.

He noticed the strong and fearless lion, so he became associated with the king himself, each town or major settlement adopted an animal as a symbol of it and had its own temple. They used to give offerings to its spirit as a respect for its qualities and to avoid its evilness. During the New Kingdom the Ancient Egyptians became more involved in the symbolism of the animals which was obvious in the religious matters. At the New kingdom in particular, the hunting hobby became even more popular and the outer trade and relations were increased. The living animals along with the animal products were a main type of tribute that delivered to Egypt.

Esiste inoltre un Villaggio degli operai e artisti a Deir el- Medina, con relativa area abitativa, tempio e necropoli. Luxor West Bank Necropoli di el-Asasif A sud di Deir el Bahari c’è la necropoli di el-Asasif, dove furono scavate varie tombe ipogeiche, principalmente durante la XXV e XXVI dinastia. Presentano un ingresso monumentale, una scalinata e un cortile a 3-4 metri di profondità. Una porta a forma di pilone immette alla zona sotterranea, che presenta una serie di camere e sale collegate da un corridoio, che porta infine alla sala sepolcrale. Fra queste tombe possiamo segnalare quelle di: Montuemhat (TT34), 4° profeta di Amon, principe della città sotto Taharqa e Psammetico I; Ibi (TT36), ciambellano della Divina Adoratrice, Nitocris, sotto Psammetico I; Parennefer (TT188), maggiordomo reale e intendente sotto Amenhotep IV; Pabasa (TT279), gran maggiordomo della Divina Adoratrice, Nitocris, sotto Psammetico I; Jar (TT366), guardiano dell’harem reale sotto Mentuhotep I; Samut (TT409), scriba contabile del bestiame di Amon e delle divinità tebane, sotto Ramesse II; Kheruef (TT192), scriba reale, governatore e depositario del sigillo reale, sotto Amenhotep III; Amenhotep Huy (TT28), sindaco di Menphy e visir.

Omran Faculty of Tourism and Hotels - Fayoum University Abstract The current research was dedicated to shed light on the heart and its symbolism in the Ancient Egyptian conception; to study the importance of heart in Ancient Egyptian religion; to focus on the representation of heart in both daily and funerary scenes like heart necklace which is represented either worn by the tomb owner or offered to him in Sheikh Abd El Qurna private tombs; to spotlight on the religious symbolism of the different colors and numbers of heart in the scenes decorating the walls of Sheikh Abd El Qurna private tombs; to spotlight on the specific locations of heart in scenes and their relation with the Ancient Egyptian conception. as well as to focus on the chapters dedicated to the heart protection in the book of the Dead. The preliminary results indicated that heart was illustrated in different locations inside the tombs like on the walls of the hall, inner room, burial chamber and passage. Akhenaton (/ɑɑɑɑ kənɑɑɑ tən Spelled Echnaton, Akhenaton, Ikhnaton, and Khuenaten; meaning "living spirit of Aten") known before the fifth year of his reign asAmenhotep IV (sometimes given its Greek form Amenophis IV, and meaning Amun is Satisfied), was a Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty of Egypt who ruled for 17 years and died perhaps in 1336 BC or 1334 BC. He is especially noted for abandoning traditional Egyptian polytheism and introducing worship centered on the Aten , which is sometimes described as monotheistic or henotheistic . An early inscription likens the Aten to the sun as compared to stars, and later official language avoids calling the Aten a god, giving the solar deity a status above mere gods. Akhenaton tried to bring about a departure from traditional religion , yet in the end it would not be accepted. After his death, traditional religious practice was gradually restored, and when some dozen years later rulers without clear rights of succession from the Eighteenth Dynasty founded a new dynasty, they discredited Akhenaton and his immediate successors, referring to Akhenaton himself as "the enemy" in archival records He was all but lost from history until the discovery, in the 19th century, of Amarna , the site of Akhenaton, the city he built for the Aten.

    El simbolismo de la vid y el orden cósmico después de la reforma amarniana María Violeta Pereyra 1 Silvana Lorena Yomaha 2 (UN Tucumán) Introducción El análisis de las representaciones registradas en la decoración parietal de las tumbas del antiguo Egipto imperial requiere replantear su polisemia y función social, que las alejan de cualquier idea del arte que ponga énfasis en la creatividad del autor de una obra. De manera usual la iconografía funeraria se presentó asociada a inscripciones de variado género para conformar un texto estético unitario. Así, en tanto que las representaciones de los antiguos egipcios, no parecen reductibles a un abordaje que tome en cuenta sólo el aspecto figurativo, tampoco las inscripciones jeroglíficas son susceptibles de ser analizadas como un discurso puramente lingüístico. Una consideración de la compleja naturaleza del lenguaje contenido en las evidencias que los historiadores utilizamos como fuentes para la reconstrucción de un proceso se impone, en consecuencia, como reflexión previa a su interpretación. Nuestro objetivo es analizar aquí el uso de la representación en el antiguo Egipto, en particular a fines de la dinastía 18, para comprender su función en los monumentos funerarios privados del período. El enfoque aborda el uso de la temática relativa a la vid en las tumbas de la elite, a fin de comprender la presencia de dos escenas en la tumba tebana 3 n° 49, monumento funerario de Neferhotep, hijo de Neby.4 Nuestro trabajo tiene en cuenta que la pintura parietal de las tumbas egipcias se ajustó a un programa decorativo codificado y prescripto por el poder gubernativo.
