In order to improve mobility, the City of Moscow is implementing a comprehensive urban transport development plan. It will develop multi-modal transport network by 2023, including the subway, with more than 50 stations and up to 140km of new lines within Greater Moscow. Along with the program of renovation of housing concerning 5,000 public housing buildings, these major projects will generate over 50 million cubic meters of rubble. The Moscow City wants to optimise construction waste management, from treatment to recovery and including reuse, but also to ensure its traceability. The purpose of the joint-venture will be to provide solutions to improve Construction and Demolition Waste management, including soils and sludge, for the construction of new multimodal Mass Rail Transit (MRT) underground metro lines and the urban regeneration of public housing. In this context, the scope of the joint-venture and the final agreement will be finalized early summer 2019. “We are proud to confirm our commitment with MIP to address urban transformation and circular economy challenges in the Russian megalopolis. Our expertise and solutions will help and optimize the management of worksite rubble and debris, but also improve the carbon footprint of the Greater Moscow project”, comments Jean-Louis Chaussade, CEO of SUEZ. “Moscow is interested in leveraging of cutting-edge international expertise. Even if there is no problem of disposal of construction waste, the joint project with one of the world leaders of waste treatment will allow us to progress to a new level using the French technologies and the worldwide experience. It is particularly important regarding the program of renovation of housing”, says the Deputy Mayor in charge of the Greater Moscow Marat Khusnullin.
