For eighty-seven years, we have welcomed the very best T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena American Saddlebreds, Hackney , Roadsters, and Friesians at Clemson University to the Upstate of South Carolina. This year, we welcome you— old friends and new friends alike. South Carolina’s Premier Multi-Purpose Livestock Complex We’re excited in 2021 to once again host the Region 4 International Friesian Show Horse Association (IFSHA) Championship, featuring the region’s best Friesians.

The purpose of this division is to introduce potential owners to the joys of showing horses and give riders the opportunity to gain experience in a full 136 Academy Equitation 9-10 WT horse show atmosphere. The American Saddlebred Association of the Carolinas sanctions these classes. A complete copy of the rules and regulations governing these classes is available at the horse show office. Riders in this division 137 Academy Equitation 7-8 WT are students who are enrolled in a professionally operated program and are to be judged on their basic riding skills. 138 Academy Equitation 6 & Under WT Riding suits are not allowed; jodhpur, boots, and pants are suggested. Safety helmets are the only acceptable headgear for academy riders and are required for ALL 10 & Under riders. Riders may not cross enter into any performance 139 Academy Showmanship 9-10 WT classes with the exception of driving classes and show rider classes. A rider who has shown in a regular division class or in a full riding suit is prohibited from further participation in the Academy division with the exception of the 140 Academy Showmanship 7-8 WT Academy Show Rider classes. Horses are to be lesson type horses. These horses must display the characteristics of 141 Academy Showmanship 6 & Under WT such. No type of pad or rim pad will be allowed. A rider may show his/her horse as long as the horse is regularly used in a lesson program. If the horse is privately owned, the horse must be used for lessons and be shown by other riders 142 Academy Championship WT per show than only for the said owners. Horses must not be in training. Horses may be shown in a snaffle bridle with martingale or a Pelham/full bridle. Blinkers not allowed in under saddle classes. Flat cutback English saddles are to 143 Academy Equitation 8 & Under on a Lead be used. Hoof blacking is optional and ribbon braids are not allowed. Horses may cross enter into the performance and equitation division at all shows. Horses are not to be judged.
