26Th April 2014 Vs METRO LOTTO NRFL Division 1 26 April 2014 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Welcome to Metro Premiers and Reserves to Memorial Park. Before I mention the game just a big thank you to all of the board for the extra effort you have all put in in my absence. Luckily for me this season I haven’t missed a game of the two sides Reserves and First Division. Be patient the results will come so don’t be so hard on yourselves. Over the coming months I hope to get around the rest of the sides and also check on the clubs new coaching co coordinator Keith McKay. I’m told he is doing some great work so get in behind him. The board is still battling away with council to try and achieve a plan for ground development here at Memorial Park and Jellicoe Park. Hopefully some updates later in the season. Its hard work. To youth and juniors, thanks again for your support of the first team with such great numbers of ball boys and girls. Reminder to visitors and last years social members that it is time to re-join. I’m looking forward to catching up after your games. This weeks game looms as another important one for us because if we can pick up the three points from Metro, it will give us a bit of breathing space as they sit just below with one point less. Last weekend saw Manurewa come away with the full six points from their two games, but not before giving coaches and managers heart palpitations at times. Our first game saw us take on Mt Albert Ponsonby in our first home game of the season and was a hard fought affair with the wind giving both sides ample opportunity to take advantage. The visitors had the wind in the first half and created numerous chances but failed to capitalize on any, but we also created 2 or 3 good chances that also went begging. Our back four had outstanding games and soaked up most of the pressure that they put us under. So it was good to go in at half time 0-0, and we knew that if we put the balls in the right areas, we could apply the same sort of pressure. And that's exactly what we did. We created numerous chances but it wasn't until Brendan was fouled after a brilliant solo run where he was brought down from behind and Cole slotted the winner home from the penalty spot. Mondays game against Hibiscus Coast was a little more one sided than the score may suggest and we pretty much dominated from the outset of the game. We scored 2 cracking goals, both from crosses, and Brendan was once more felled in the box to give us a 3-1 lead at half time. But as in previous games, we kept letting the opposition back in with silly mistakes that are leading to goals and that is something we will be trying to rectify this week. We finally got the result 4 -3, but will look at how we can really close teams out in the future. Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and look forward to seeing you afterwards. Other than the win against Mount Albert Ponsonby on Good Friday, it's been a tough start to the season for the team with some things going against us, unfortunately there's nothing we can do now. More important right now is the game and opposition we have to play today. Metro have had a slow start to the season, but with the players and quality they possess, it's only a matter of time before they start getting the results they are hoping for. There have been patches of good play this season, but we need to put it in for a full 90 minutes if we are to do well in this league. The past 3 games have shown we can work hard and put in a good effort, we just need to execute better. So for us today is an opportunity to reflect on the positives, let go of the negatives and things we can't control, and put in a strong performance for ourselves and our supporters and get some points on the board. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Mangere United to the second round of the NRFL first and reserves. This is second of four home games. Over these weeks of home fixtures it is time to get in behind both sides with the support they need to cross the line and turn the tables around. Don’t give up. Last week’s game was a goody and playing like that is what’s needed week in and out. As the season moves on think back as to whose helping, organising, doing that bit extra, managing, in all areas of the club so their names can be put forward to the different committees for possible end of year awards. I mentioned a couple last week. You should all by now have your raffle tickets yes even I got a book. Put in the effort - I have 5 left easy to sell with the great prizes. To all members a reminder that the club draw is at 6pm and while you wait with a drink or two or something from the cafe, sit and discuss the what could have been or now to make it better for all those involved with the game. See you on the side line at the park. Kerry Bevan President WE NEED YOUR HELP Pablo Yackson is a crucial member of our first team and has recently shifted to New Zealand from South America.

We Are North Shore SATURDAY 13th MAY 2017 – KICK OFF 2PM CHATHAM CUP – RD1 OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: METRO FC HEAD COACH– Tom Speers Good afternoon and welcome back to the the Hill for the 1st round of the Chatham Cup. I would like to welcome Mike and his Metro team here today, I expect it to be a lot tighter game than when they visited in the first game of season and I'm sure they will be looking to do a lot better than the 7-0 they experienced here that day. I love being part of the Cup and as there is only one cup competition in NZ I'm looking forward to hopefully going far. This club has a rich history in this cup, winning it 6 times, the last being in 1986, so fingers crossed we can progress into the later rounds of the competition and be there or there about towards the end. You can see the success we have had in this competition all over the clubhouse walls and talking with former players who have won it, we know how important it is to the club that we represent the club properly, so unlike the rumours I have been hearing, we will be playing a full strength squad and hoping every club in this competition do the same, resting players when you only have 1 game a week would be disrespectful to the longest cup competition on the planet and also be quite embarrassing for the clubs that do so. I hope you have a good day and hopefully see us progress, get behind the boys and make some noise.
