THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (A606 MELTON ROAD IN THE PARISH OF BURTON AND DALBY, OAKHAM ROAD, SOMERBY IN THE PARISH OF SOMERBY, IN THE BOROUGH OF MELTON) (IMPOSITION OF 50MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 201 THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be: 1. To impose a 50 mph Speed Limit on parts of A606 Melton Road, Burton and Dalby and Oakham Road, Somerby A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA, at the offices of Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Station Approach, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1GH and on the notice boards of Burton and Dalby and Somerby Parish Councils. Documents can also be viewed online at https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/roads-and- travel/cars-and-parking/traffic-management-consultations Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing to the undersigned by not later than 15th August 2019 quoting reference JM/HTWMT/4394. Those that are shown to have the worst collision history are being included in a batch of roads on which we will look to reduce the speed limit to 50mph. Following this review a section of the length of road known as Melton Road, Burton and Dalby and Oakham Road, Somerby have been identified as having a total number of accidents significantly above the national average. Therefore to assist in increasing general safety and to help reduce the accident rate, the County Council proposes to reduce the speed limit on this road from 60mph to 50mph as shown in plan P643/T1/1/A. The Order shall come into force on the day of 201 3. The Orders specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby revoked in full 4. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 MPH on the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 2 to this Order 5. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 MPH on the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 3 to this Order 4. Speed Limit) Order 1993" is hereby revoked insofar as it relates to that length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order. 3. This Order may be cited as "The Leicestershire County Council (Melton Road (A606) (Part) Burton Lazars Parish of Burton and Dalby) (Revocation of 50 mph and Imposition of 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2001 ", and shall come into force on the i4J1- day of rno.r 2001.
