Received 2017/12/17 revised 2018/05/25 accepted 2018/06/13 available online 2018/07/23 Abstractَ Problem statement: Iran has a long history of using a ship-shaped bowls known as Kashkul and the assumption of this article is the bowls have been changed to Kashkul though sequential receptions in Persian literature. It is possible to analyze this course of change through the reconstruction of the horizon of expectation and the chain of receptions in the light of Hans-Robert Jauss’s theory . Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the evolution course of Kashkul , through the reconstruction of horizon of expectation and the chain of receptions based on theory of Jauss’s viewpoints. Reconstructing the horizon of expectation has three stages - through which we can identify the criteria used by audiences to evaluate and interpret the works of an era. The chain of receptions refers to the extension of a work through the sequential receptions; and it can be understood by its historical significance and the evolution of the works. Previous studies have investigated works of art through the lens of Hans-Robert Jauss. However, our knowledge about the expectations of audiences is scanty. This study is an attempt to examine the process of reception of an artifact (ship) by the audiences using the literary texts. Methodology: First, the horizons of expectation of ship- shaped bowl were reconstructed according to Persian literary texts; Since the horizon of the expectation of this container included another container known as Kashkul shaped by successive receptions of Jauss’ chain of reception was used as a framework for data analysis Conclusion: Reconstruction of the horizons of expectation ofwine ship- shaped bowl , based on literary texts showed that there was a rich chain of receptions; so that the bowl in the course of the successive receptions has become a metaphor for the freedom from sorrow sea and through repetition, it has become a symbol of emancipation from the sad, then, with the addition of a chain, it has become the symbol of poverty, which leads to the liberation of the possessions of the world; the evidence shows that some Kashkuls are decorated with lyrics representing the chain of receptions from a drinking bowl to a symbol of poverty. Therefore, Kashkul can be considered one of the most exclusive and richest works of Iran in terms of chain of receptions; the contribution of this study is methodological as well. To this purpose, literary texts were used to explore the aesthetic status of applied art. further research in the field of literature, art and language can use the audience chain of receptions for reconstructing thehorizon of expectation, and also, studying the evolution of a metaphor to a symbol.     ESOTERIC KEYS OF MĪRZĀ ʿABD AL-QĀDIR BĪDEL by NASIM FEKRAT (Under the Direction of Kenneth Lee Honerkamp) ABSTRACT Bīdel is considered the most difficult poet in Persian poetry. This study explores the complexity of his language through three key words: incapacity, mirror, and bewilderment. I argue that these are umbrella terms, which cover a range of concepts, images, metaphors, and symbols, and through understanding them, we find the keys to unlock the mysteries of Bīdel’s thinking; not knowing them, the inner subtlety and significance of his works cannot be understood. The goal of this examination is to see how Bīdel’s own ontological exploration yields a description of human relationship with the Divine. Tel: 0098-61-33348420 [email protected] Abstract Although Hindi poets (early 10th century to mid-12th century) composed innovative poetry; they were strongly affected by the language and rhetoric of the precedent poets, and appealed to their great works including sonnets and odes. This study investigates reflection of the Hafez's thoughts in Hindi style, it is based on the components of Hindi style, and common viewpoints that show a variety of the poets imitate the Hafez's Hindi style. The components of all styles show the poetic features of the poets, apart from the individual elements of these poems. This study aims to investigate the verbal communions, idioms, and satire in Hafez's poetry including keywords of Hafez's Divān, irony, allusions and Hafez's attitude towards the pious in his era that are observed in the poems and the views of many poets with Hindi style including Babafghani Shirazi, Ghani Keshmiri, Ahli Shirazi, Bidel and Saeb Tabrizi. The purpose of this research was to find when the use of eyeglass was promulgated in Persia Methods: To answer the question, we looked for the first use of the “eyeglass” or its synonyms in the Farsi literature and Persian ancient artistic paintings. Results: Jami was the first the Persian poet that used a synonym of eyeglass in his poems. The frequency of its use in Farsi poems has been increased from 16 century onward. We also found two Persian paintings demonstrating the use of eyeglasses in the Safavid period. Conclusion: Eyeglass was introduced from Europe to Persia. The use of the eyeglasses in Persia was promulgated in the 15th century and early Safavid period onward.
