Over the last eleven years, JYM theatre co. has established a strong reputation for musical theatre excellence. Recent productions, Chaim’s Love Song and Avenue Q were sold-out successes and received excellent reviews from within the Music Theatre and Jewish communities.
In 2013, JYM is thrilled to present the iconic and hilarious production, The Producers to be directed by renowned director- Brendan Cohen.
About The Producers Max Bialystock is a has-been musical producer until nerdy accountant Leo Bloom stumbles upon the perfect plan: if they produce a sure-fire flop, they can close on opening night and skedaddle with the backers’ money! All they need is the worst script, the worst director and the worst lead actor ever; it’s a great plan until it all goes horribly right!
The Producers is Mel Brooks at his genius best. Simultaneously a tribute to, and a send-up of, the Golden Years of Broadway schmaltz, Brooks mastered the art of offending everybody in order to offend no-one. Outrageous characters, riotous dialogue, & sensational musical numbers make for a rags-to-riches-to-rags romp!
