CAST BIOGRAPHIES CHRIS MANN (The Phantom) rose to fame as Christina Aguilera’s finalist on NBC’s The Voice. Since then, his debut album, Roads, hit #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and he starred in his own PBS television special: A Mann For All Seasons. Chris has performed with the National Symphony for President Obama, at Christmas in Rockefeller Center and headlined his own symphony tour across the country. The pre-Broadway Canadian premiere of Anaïs Mitchell’s musical Hadestown (Nov 11 – Dec 3) has been generating buzz in both New York and Edmonton. Five New York theatre stars will make the trip to Alberta in October to begin rehearsals. Patrick Page is a Broadway veteran who created the dual role of Norman Osborn and his alter ego the Green Goblin in the Broadway rock musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, and has starred in such major productions as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, A Man For All Seasons, and Cyrano De Bergerac. He will play Hades, the role he originated in the Off-Broadway production last year. Another Hadestown alumna, Amber Gray, who will play Persephone, comes to the Citadel after appearing as Hélène Kuragina in the much-acclaimed Broadway musical Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, a performance that garnered a 2017 Theatre World Award. Broadway great Kingsley Leggs will play Hermes. He is best known for originating the roles of Mister in The Color Purple and Curtis Jackson in Sister Act. -

National Operatic & Dramatic Association London Region Society : East Berkshire Operatic Society Production : Avenue Q Date : 7th – 11th May 2019 Venue : Wilde Theatre Report by : Susan Boobyer-Pickles h Show Report While I knew the bones of the story and have seen many clips of Avenue Q over the years, I have never seen it in its entirety, and I was absolutely delighted when EBOS announced they would be performing the show. Clearly this would be a high quality production and all I can say is I was not disappointed. There is a certain joy at seeing something that is meant to shock, surprise and make you laugh out loud – very loud! So, before anything else, may I say I had the best evening and really from start to finish this was a blue print on how to present a wonderful show. Unusually, the set was designed and built in house rather than using the services of the theatre which for me made it even better. A double storey house frontage with working doors, windows, back yard entrance and alleyway looked rock solid as it had to be with the various puppets lurching out of doors and windows. There were also clever little tricks to create small subsets such as the “pull out” lounge and the club - all size appropriate. The many small touches really made a difference including the side street bench and the Bansky “balloon girl” artwork. I thought the use of the balcony was thoughtful and came into its own when representing the Empire State Building – very clever. -

The Urban Prairie Puppet Company: Witty and Wonderful Thursday, January 12th 7:30 PM My previous truly terrific theatre pieces have been an actor’s view of working (a Chanticleer Theater euphemism for playing) at our various local theatres. However, because The Urban Prairie Puppet Company (the UPPC) is a two person operation and, even if Boston Marriage it wasn’t, I lack any semblance of manual dexterity let alone character versatility – I Thursday, January 12th will take this one from an audience point of view. 8:00 PM Baby D Theatre The UPPC performs a children’s show the second Saturday morning of every month. Because this is the same time as the TAG Board Meeting – many of us From Shelterbelt with Love 5 have never been able to attend. So, when they moved their performance to a Thursday, January 19th Saturday closer to Halloween this October – seven of us went to see “The Legend 8:00 PM of Sleepy Hollow”. Definitely a treat! Shelterbelt Theatre The Mousetrap Trish Place and Brian Douglas provide an experience that delights both adults and Thursday, January 26th children alike. The puppets and puppetry are excellent – but it is the humor and wit 8:00 PM of their original scripts and acting talents that had us going from giggles to guffaws. Bellevue Little Theatre And after the performance, when Trish and Brian came from behind the puppet __________________________ stage, the children hurried to the edge to ask questions and get a closer look at the miniature “actors”. -
