It has two branches: an academic one, and a development/production one. NMI. New Musicals Inc. is the name under which we produce and develop musicals. NMI develops musicals for producers and writers all around the country, through workshops, dramaturgy, table readings, concerts, productions. ANMT. The academic branch is called the Academy for New Musical Theatre. ANMT offers classes and curriculum, both live in Los Angeles and through a series of online courses for bookwriters, lyricists and composers. We've been in existence for nearly 40 years, originally as the West Coast branch of the Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. We've developed hundreds of musicals.     THEATRE REVIEWS “Avenue Q” Alan Bresloff Highly Recommended ***** I know in the past, when it came to shows at The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights, I have been unkind, but the current production of “Avenue Q” took my breath away! It was by far the best thing ever on their stage, and is a show that would be worthy of Jeff Citations. Over the years, I have tried to cover their shows, but found that the selection of shows and their quality were not strong. Now, in 2018, their production of the hilarious musical “Avenue Q” ( Sesame Street- x rated) is smashing and equal to the quality of any of Chicago’s finest musical theater companies. Bravo to Joe Keefe and your staff for finding the cast and production people to bring this wonderful theatrical experience to your stage- For those of you who do not know anything about the show, “Avenue Q”, has a book by Jeff Whitty, music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and is based on the original book written by messrs Lopez and Marx. The story is about a recent college graduate, Princeton ( Alex Newkirk is amazing), with a Bachelor of Arts in English, who moves out , on his own, to New York , to begin his career. In this case, we see that this recent college grad is also a “puppet” which does make it very difficult indeed. I must point out that there is a great mix of puppets and people, and despite the actors working the puppets, while we see them singing and speaking, under the solid direction of Lauren Rawitz ( her best work to date) and Daniel Dempsey’s puppet choreography, we lose sight that there are puppets and puppeteer.

The realisation of falling in love will be displayed through ‘In His Eyes’, and then ‘My Man’ to emphasise the devotion to another. Then the breaK-up will be conveyed through ‘There’s A Fine, Fine Line’ and then ‘Out Here on My Own’ to heighten the feeling of loneliness. Finally, ‘I Am Changing’ represents a strong comeback and the reconnection of independence. In His Eyes Musical: Jekyll & Hyde (1990) Music: Frank Wildhorn Lyrics: Frank Wildhorn, Leslie Bricusse, Steve Cuden Originally a duet but being performed as a solo. Theme: The realisation of falling in love Frank Wildhorn was born in New York in 1958 and built his career as a composer. ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ is his best-known musical, and he also composed “Where Do broke Hearts Go” a number one hit for Witney Houston.1 Leslie Bricusse (b.1931) contributed to many musicals as a composers-lyricist. The award-winning British composer’s songs have been recorded by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Michele Bublé and Mariah Carey. He is known for his contributions to ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, ‘Doctor Doolittle’ and ‘Willy Wonka’.2 Writer, director, and producer Steve Cuden (b. 1955) has worked on musicals including ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, TV series such as ‘X- Men’ and written two books about Broadway and Hollywood.3 Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novel ‘Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ is a 1990 musical.
