Constitution of  Florida State University Chapter Founded November 4th, 1975

Article I – Name

This organization is to be known as the Theta chapter of Rho . The Greek letters, , signify “Panhellenic Leadership.”

Article II – Purpose

We, as the Theta chapter of Rho Lambda at Florida State University honor Panhellenic leaders who exemplify the ideals of service, scholastic achievement, and integrity through reputable endeavors. We promote personal and professional growth through community outreach and campus involvement, while striving to create quality relationships from meaningful programs that facilitate networking opportunities and teamwork.

Article III – Colors, Pin, Mascot and Flower

A. The colors of the organization shall be crimson and gold. B. The pin shall be gold, broke, triangle with a crimson inset bearing the Greek letters Rho Lambda, in gold. C. The Mascot shall be the White Tiger. D. The Flower shall be the red rose.

Article IV – Officers

The officers of this organization shall include a President, Vice President of Executive Affairs, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Administrative Affairs. In order to be eligible to run for an office, a member must be in good standing with her sorority, have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0, and be an active member of Rho Lambda. Any officer may be re-elected however not for more than two consecutive terms.

A. The President shall: a. Supervise the activities of the organization b. Preside over all meetings and call all meetings to order c. Be one of two signers on financial documents d. Ensure all officers are performing their duties as defined in this Constitution.

B. The Vice President of Executive Affairs shall: a. Assumes the Presidents responsibilities in her absence b. Coordinate all membership drives including the interviewing process. c. Organize the initiation of new members d. Be responsible for all public relations

C. The Vice President of Finance shall: a. Be one of two signers on financial documents b. Be responsible for collecting dues c. Manage all financial activities include creating a budget for membership events. d. Keep accurate records of all meetings

D. The Vice President of Administrative Affairs shall: a. Be responsible for updating the Bylaws and Constitution at the beginning of each fall semester. b. Keep a copy of the Constitution and Bylaws and have them available for members. c. Plan all meeting time and locations and be responsible for notifying members of this information. d. Organize all programming activities e. Keep an updated calendar of all Rho Lambda activities. f. Maintain an attendance record of all meetings g. Prepare ballots for elections

Article V – Officer Selection & Election Process

Section 1. Eligibility to Vote and Hold Office

Active voting membership will be limited to active members in good standing. Only active voting members who meet the requirements stated in Article IV are eligible to hold office.

Section 2. Officer Selection & Election Process

A. The election of officers shall take place after The Panhellenic Association’s elections in the fall semester. B. The Nominating Committee will present the slate. C. After the slate is presented, no nominations will be accepted. D. In the case of a position with no candidates, candidates may be nominated by any active member of Rho Lambda. E. The election process shall be assisted by an advisor. F. Each position must be voted in by a simple majority.

Section 3. Term of Office

The length of office shall be no longer than one calendar year. Newly elected officers shall take office immediately after the announcement of their election at the next scheduled full meeting.

Article VI – Removal of Officers and Officer Vacancies

Section 1. Removal of Officers A. Any member of Rho Lambda shall be able to initiate removal of an officer of Rho Lambda on the grounds of either of the following: a. Dereliction of Duties b. Mismanagement of funds B. The removal of an officer shall proceed as follows: a. Said Rho Lambda member shall contact the Rho Lambda President, or in the case of the President being removed, shall contact the Rho Lambda V.P. of Executive Affairs and shall submit a statement including intent to substantiate grounds for the removal of the officer in question. b. The notified officer shall contact the officer in question and inform her that the removal proceedings are pending c. At the following Rho Lambda meeting, any member of the Executive Board shall read the statement and the officer in question may answer questions. A vote on removal will occur at the next scheduled meeting. d. If a 2/3 majority vote is reached, the officer shall be considered removed and shall be replaced according to the procedure for filling a vacancy.

Section 2. Resignation A. Any officer no longer wishing to serve on the board must submit their resignation to the President at least two weeks in advance B. Prior to the officers final day, she shall provide all documents relating to the organization and brief her replacement of current projects.

Section 3. Filling Vacant Officer Positions A. In the event an officer is removed or resigns, the nomination process as stated in Article V, Section 2 will take place at the next scheduled meeting. B. The election process will take place at the next scheduled meeting following nomination. C. The newly elected officers term shall end at the annual election scheduled in November.

Article VI – Selection of Members

A. Women who in the opinion of the members of Rho Lambda have displayed outstanding leadership, knowledge, and loyalty throughout their years of sorority affiliation shall be eligible for membership. B. Nominations for membership may be submitted to the members of Rho Lambda by the president and local advisors of each inter/national sorority. C. An overall average GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for membership. D. Only active members of a National Panhellenic Sorority in good standing with their chapter are eligible for membership. To be eligible for membership, those described above must have completed 60 or more credit hours and be a full time student (currently taking 12+ credit hours) of Florida State University. E. One membership drive will take place annually in early October. F. In order to be eligible for membership, each applicant must have filled out the required application and attended an interview. G. No hazing or discrimination will be used as a condition of membership in this organization. H. No university student may be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, religion, age, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, parental status, disability, or the inability to pay dues. I. No member released from Rho Lambda may reapply.

Article VII – Loss of Membership

A. Loss of Membership shall occur if meeting requirements, grade point average and/or financial obligations are not met. B. Any student whose membership is revoked will have seven calendar days to appeal the revocation. The appeal must be submitted in writing to the President and VP of Administrative Affairs, and must include any relevant information that has not already been presented. The appeal will be reviewed by the executive board members and the advisor. The executive board and the advisor will then render a decision within seven calendar days of receiving the appeal.

Article VII – Meetings

A. Meetings will be held once a month for members during the Fall and Spring semesters B. Members are required to attend at least 3 meetings per semester to remain active.

Article IX – Advisor

A. The advisor shall be selected by the officers of Rho Lambda. B. The advisor shall serve as a mentor to the officers and members of Rho Lambda. C. The advisor has no voting rights. D. The advisor position has no term limit other than he/she must be a current FSU faculty or staff member. Article X – Finances

A. Members shall pay one time membership dues of $85.00 on or before their initiation to Rho Lambda. B. No university student may be denied membership due to inability to pay dues. If a member is not able to pay dues, other arrangements will be made.

Article – Publications

Section 1. Compliance

All advertisements of Rho Lambda must comply with the University Posting Policy (http://www.fsu.edu/~posting/fsupolicy.html)

Section 2. Approval

The President and VP of Administrative Affairs must approve all publications, shirts, flyers, etc. prior to duplication and distribution.

Article XII – Amendments

This constitution can be amended by at two-thirds (2/3) vote of the active chapter members of Rho Lambda
