RHO CHAPTER

Bylaws

BYLAWS Article 1

Purpose:

The purpose of these rules is to effectively run the business of the Rho Lambda Chapter on Rho Sorority, Inc. The rules promulgated herein, under the authority of the charter of the Rho Lambda Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. shall be hereafter known as the BYLAWS of the Rho Lambda Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

Article II

Attendance:

• Section 1 Each member is expected to attend all monthly meetings and if you are not able to you need to notify the chapter President and graduate chapter advisor at least 2 hrs. prior to the meeting. • Section 2 Officers & Committee chairs who will be absent from a regular meeting must notify the Basileus or Anti-Basileus and Advisor and submit a written report within 24 hours prior to the meeting. • Section 3 Officers who miss more than 3 meetings a year will be subjected to removal from office. Article III

Meetings:

• Section 1 Regular meetings will be held on the 2nd Friday of each month from August through June at 7:00PM location to be announced prior to the meetings by your Basileus or Anti Basileus. • Section 2 Executive board meetings will be held in September, February, and June, prior to regular chapter meetings. • Section 3 Executive board meetings are open to all chapter members. • Section 4 All members are expected to attend all regular chapter meetings. • Section 5 If there is a holiday or special event that falls on or near a scheduled meeting, it can be rescheduled. • Section 6 Notifications of a rescheduled meeting will be made 72 hours prior to the original meeting date. • Section 7 All meetings must have the Graduate Advisor or her appointee in attendance. • Section 8 Dress Code for all meetings is Business Attire except for changes by Basileus or Graduate Advisor

Article IV

Fines:

• Section 1 There will be a $1.00 fine imposed for tardiness.

• Section 2 There will be a $2.00 fine imposed for missing a meeting with notification of absence to the Basileus or Anti-Basileus, without notification the fine will be $4.00.

• Section 3 There will be a $1.00 fine imposed for not having an officer report.

• Section 4 There will be a $1.00 fine imposed for a committee not submitting a written report.

• Section 5 There will be a $5.00 fine imposed for not wearing sorority colors or paraphernalia to meetings and chapter functions.

• Section 6 All fines are due at the time of assessment but no later than the next meeting. Article V

Membership and Dues:

• Section 1 An active member must be financial on all levels. (Local, Regional, National)

• Section 2 All perspective members must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a semester GPA of 2.5 or better.

• Section 3 Members GPA cannot decline below a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3.

• Section 4 If members have not improved their GPA to a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after the next semester, they will be deemed inactive.

• Section 5 Members whose GPA falls below the minimum will be placed on an inactive status by the Graduate Chapter Advisor.

• Section 6 Membership must be open to all Clayton State University female students.

• Section 7 Membership shall be maintained by the payment of dues, which are established by National Headquarters.

• Section 8 Each member is responsible for paying chapter dues in line with the National, Regional, & Local designated times. All dues are due July 1 of each Sorority year.

• Section 8 All members are expected to actively recruit on behalf of the sorority on the campus of Clayton State with the mission to grow the organization.

• Section 9 All meeting registrations will need to be paid, two months prior to the deadline of late registration for each Local, regional and national meeting. Also known as Area, Regionals, and Boule.

 Area registration will be due at the September chapter meeting.

 Regional registration will be due at your February chapter meeting.

 Boule registration will be due the last chapter meeting of the Boule year.

Article VI Committees:

• Section 1 Committees will either be permanent or standing.

• Section 2 Standing committees serve as subcommittees from the permanent committee.

• Section 3 Committee Chairpersons are responsible for reporting on the activities of the committee.

• Section 4 All committee reports should give an accurate account of all activities of the committee.

• Section 5 Final activity reports should give an accurate account of all expenditures and income.

• Section 6 Chairpersons must submit a typed final report of the activity no later than one month after the activity.

Article VII

Elections:

• Section 1 Elections will be held in April of each year and appointed as needed.

• Section 2 Officers will be installed August.

• Section 3 An elected officer may not miss more than three meetings per year without prior notification to the Executive Board and the Graduate Advisor.

• Section 4 If an elected officer is to be absent from a meeting at which she is to make a report, it is her responsibility to designate another Soror to deliver the report in her absence.

• Section 5 If an elected officer is not adequately handling the duties of her office, she can be removed from the office by two-thirds vote of all active members or the Graduate Chapter Advisor.

• Section 6 Any officer with 3 unexcused absences shall be subjected to removal by the Graduate Chapter Advisor.

Article VIII

Offices:

• Section 1 A term in office shall be defined as 1 year.

• Section 2 Basileus: shall serve no more than two consecutive terms, will not chair any committees and will serve as an alternate on all

committees

• Section 3 Anti-Basileus: shall serve no more than two consecutive terms, will serve as membership committee chair.

• Section 4 Grammateus: shall serve no more than three consecutive terms, must serve on fundraising committee, and alternate on all activities, which involve monetary exchanges.

• Section 5 Anti-Grammateus: shall serve no more than three consecutive terms, must serve on committees or as needed. Article IX

FSC:

• Section 1 We are required to have a representative at the monthly meeting of the campus Fraternity and Sorority Council meetings (FSC). • Section 2 Any Soror may attend the meetings

• Section 3 The chapter shall designate one representative and one alternate to attend the Monthly meetings.

• Section 4 The representative is responsible for reporting all activities, and to act as chapter liaison to the Council.

Article X

Delegates

• Section 1 There will be at least one delegate and one alternate to attend all area, regional and national meetings. • Section 2 The chapter will pay a portion not to exceed half of the registration fee for 1 delegate if the budget permits. • Section 3 The chapter will fundraise to try and insure the chapter has the funds to pay for the delegate.

• Section 4 The chapter will not pay registration fees for alternate(s).

• Section 5 The chapter will not pay any expenses other than the ones noted above. All other expenses are the responsibility of the delegate and alternate(s).
