    ALPHA CHI OMEGA Accreditation Report 2014-2015 Intellectual Development Alpha Chi Omega was ranked second out of nine Panhellenic Sororities in the fall 2014 semester with a GPA of 3.4475, a decrease of .01306 from the spring 2014 semester. The 3.4475 GPA placed the chapter above the All Sorority and All Greek average. Alpha Chi Omega was ranked first out of nine Panhellenic Sororities in the spring 2015 semester with a GPA of 3.48402, an increase of .03652 from the fall 2014 semester. Alpha Chi Omega requires a minimum 2.6 GPA for membership. This standard is higher than the Inter/National Headquarters and University requirements. The chapter also connects members to the Center for Academic Success, the Writing and Math Center, and other on-campus resources.     GOD IS GOD IS FEBRUARY 2017 Dear Saint Mary's family, We are off to a good start for 2017. As I write this letter we are just three full weeks in to the new year and already so much is happening. We have held our first Annual Meeting together, and the response has been very posi- tive. At that meeting we were able to make amendments to the church’s By-Laws that will allow us to go forward with a smaller eight person Vestry, all of whom were elected unanimously by the members present at the meeting. At our February Vestry meeting we will vote for a Junior Warden, Treasurer, and Secretary. With that accomplished we will begin the process of looking at all of the different aspects of the way we at Saint Mary’s currently do things. The end goal of that process is to identify and eliminate any barriers to growth that might not have been considered, and to find ways to improve upon many of the things we are already doing well. To that end, please begin to pray to see if God may be calling you to participate in any of the ministries that currently exist at Saint Mary’s. This is going to be a fun and exciting time for us to bond and grow together as we seek to strengthen the teams and look at the ways they function.     FRATERNITY INSIGNIA The Postulant pin signifies to the campus that a man has affiliated himself with Alpha Chi Rho. The symbol which appears on the pin is called the Labarum. It is a symbol that is made up of the Greek letters Chi and Rho. The Postulant pin is to be worn over your heart. A good way to remember the proper placement of the pin is to count three buttons down from the collar (of a dress shirt, for example) and three finger widths to the left of the button. Never wear your Postulant pin on the lapel of a jacket; keep it close to the heart. The same rules apply to the Brother's badge that a man receives upon initiation into Alpha Chi Rho. The Roman Emperor, Constantine, like most Romans, did not believe in Christianity. However, historians say that Constantine saw a Labarum in the sky on the night before a battle. He had the symbol placed on banners and shields, then recorded a furious victory over his foe. Constantine then converted to Christianity and made the Labarum the symbol of the Imperial Roman Army. Alpha Chi Rho makes use of two forms of the Labarum. The ancient form of the Labarum is the chief public form of the Fraternity. In addition to the postulant pin, the Labarum appears predominately on the Fraternity ensign (flag). The other form of the Labarum, its modified configuration, is very significant to the Ritual of the Fraternity. Also, it is the form used on the Brother's badge. The badge is made up of a modified Labarum mounted on an oval.

    SUPPORTING THE CHINESE, JAPANESE, AND KOREAN LANGUAGES IN THE OPENVMS OPERATING SYSTEM By Michael M. T. Yau ABSTRACT The Asian language versions of the OpenVMS operating system allow Asian-speaking users to interact with the OpenVMS system in their native languages and provide a platform for developing Asian applications. Since the OpenVMS variants must be able to handle multibyte character sets, the requirements for the internal representation, input, and output differ considerably from those for the standard English version. A review of the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean writing systems and character set standards provides the context for a discussion of the features of the Asian OpenVMS variants. The localization approach adopted in developing these Asian variants was shaped by business and engineering constraints; issues related to this approach are presented. INTRODUCTION The OpenVMS operating system was designed in an era when English was the only language supported in computer systems. The Digital Command Language (DCL) commands and utilities, system help and message texts, run-time libraries and system services, and names of system objects such as file names and user names all assume English text encoded in the 7-bit American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) character set. As Digital's business began to expand into markets where common end users are non-English speaking, the requirement for the OpenVMS system to support languages other than English became inevitable. In contrast to the migration to support single-byte, 8-bit European characters, OpenVMS localization efforts to support the Asian languages, namely Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, must deal with a more complex issue, i.e., the handling of multibyte character sets.

    April, 2020 The Scoop To the Men of the Delta Rho Upsilon Alumni Association: It has been some time since I have written to you and for that I apologize. Not that there has not been plenty to report. For all of us, the world has dramatically changed over the last few weeks. But for the Fraternity, the world changed back in 2018. Inside this issue: To bring you up to date as to what has been going on, I must first go back to Homecoming 2018. An incident occurred just before Treasurer Report 3 Homecoming (the details of which are somewhat immaterial now). As result of this incident, the University gave the Active Body Alumni Updates 3-5 three options: disband, join up with a National fraternity or work with the University to totally reorganize the organization. At that Housefather 6 point, the Alumni Association stepped in and offered a fourth al- ternative: the Alumni Association would become the “National” for Active Update 7 the Active Body. The University agreed to allow the Alumni Asso- ciation to work with the University toward that end. Since that Alumni Notes 7-8 time the Alumni Association has worked toward that goal. Alumni Dues Update 9 It started by representatives from the Alumni Association meeting with University representatives on a regular basis, mostly weekly Mentorship 9 at 8 a.m. Thursday mornings, to learn what the University would expect from the Alumni Association to accept this responsibility. I Alumni Contacts 10 think the University extremely doubted our ability to perform these expected responsibilities, and I believe for them the jury is In Memoriam 11 still out.
