FELDBAHN 2018 Feldbahn Start-Sets Narrow Gauge Railway Starter Sets | Coffrets De Départ À Voie Étroite FELDBAHN 2018 FELDBAHN START-SETS Narrow Gauge Railway Starter Sets | Coffrets de Départ à Voie Étroite Eine Feldbahn, oft auch als Lorenbahn bezeichnet, ist eine Schmalspurbahn in ein- facher Bauform zum Transport von land- und forstwirtschaftlichen sowie industriel- len Rohstoffen wie Holz, Torf, Gestein, Lehm und Sand. Der Materialtransport er- folgt meist mittels offener Loren. In der weiterverarbeitenden Industrie spielten diese Schmalspurbahnen einst eine bedeutende Rolle. So fanden sich Feldbahnen häufig bei Ziegeleibetrieben und Zuckerfabriken. Auch in Untertagegruben wurden feldbahnähn- liche Bahnen als Grubenbahnen eingesetzt. Ferner verwendete man Feldbahnen zum Ziehen von Schiffen in Kanälen und Schiffsschleusen, als Heeresfeldbahn zum militä- rischen Material- und Personaltransport, zum Materialtransport auf Großbaustellen und in Torfstichen, zur Versorgung von Inseln, als Trümmerbahn in Städten nach den Zerstörungen des Zweiten Weltkrieges sowie beim Autobahnbau. Die Spurweiten liegen zwischen 400 und 1000 mm. Die gebräuchlichste Spurweite beträgt 600 mm (in H0 6,9 mm und entspricht damit fast der 6,5 mm Spurweite von Spur Z). Der Oberbau, bestehend aus Gleisen und Schwellen, reicht von leichten Gleisrahmen, die von zwei Personen getragen und verlegt werden können und oft ohne Unterbau provisorisch auf der frei geräumten Bodenoberfläche liegen, bis hin zu fest verlegten, eingeschotterten Strecken für schwere Lasten und längeren Gebrauch. Enge Radien ermöglichen eine günstige Streckenverlegung auch in schwierigem Gelände. The whole subject of light railways cannot be treated within the limits of the present short paper, which is confined to narrow-gauge railways of two feet gauge and under: although the author is personally of opinion that the circumstances which would justify the adoption of a gauge under two feet must be of an exceptional character. Comparatively few engineers realise the capability of narrow-gauge railways, and the saving that can be effected by their adoption, when applied to large industrial undertakings. Several instances have come under the author's notice, where the judicious adoption of light narrow-gauge lines, such as those dealt with in this paper, has resulted in considerable financial benefit to those concerned in them.     Finished Vehicle Logistics by Rail in Europe Version 3 December 2017 This publication was prepared by Oleh Shchuryk, Research & Projects Manager, ECG – the Association of European Vehicle Logistics. Foreword The project to produce this book on ‘Finished Vehicle Logistics by Rail in Europe’ was initiated during the ECG Land Transport Working Group meeting in January 2014, Frankfurt am Main. Initially, it was suggested by the members of the group that Oleh Shchuryk prepares a short briefing paper about the current status quo of rail transport and FVLs by rail in Europe. It was to be a concise document explaining the complex nature of rail, its difficulties and challenges, main players, and their roles and responsibilities to be used by ECG’s members. However, it rapidly grew way beyond these simple objectives as you will see. The first draft of the project was presented at the following Land Transport WG meeting which took place in May 2014, Frankfurt am Main. It received further support from the group and in order to gain more knowledge on specific rail technical issues it was decided that ECG should organise site visits with rail technical experts of ECG member companies at their railway operations sites. These were held with DB Schenker Rail Automotive in Frankfurt am Main, BLG Automotive in Bremerhaven, ARS Altmann in Wolnzach, and STVA in Valenton and Paris. As a result of these collaborations, and continuous research on various rail issues, the document was extensively enlarged. The document consists of several parts, namely a historical section that covers railway development in Europe and specific EU countries; a technical section that discusses the different technical issues of the railway (gauges, electrification, controlling and signalling systems, etc.); a section on the liberalisation process in Europe; a section on the key rail players, and a section on logistics services provided by rail.
