The Learning & Development Talent Manager works very closely with Reach’s crew, who are accredited as Facilitators in Training and Facilitators (FITs and FACs). The Reach Crew is a group of young people who are committed to creating, designing, and delivering experiences for other young people to learn more about themselves and connect with others. The Reach Crew consists of both volunteers and casual employees.

PURPOSE AND FOCUS OF THIS ROLE

The Talent Manager is responsible for processes and frameworks to ensure a constant flow of engaged, supported and talented crew through Reach nationally. Working closely with the National Manager, Learning and Development, you will provide people management to the Facilitators in Training and Facilitators (FITs and FACs), oversee workforce planning and manage development programs for our Reach talent. The Talent Manager also shares responsibility with the National Manager of Learning and Development and the HR Manager, for the annual Advanced Skills training calendar, which supports to development of all Reach People (Crew, Staff, Supporters).

RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT • Lead, coach and manage FITs and FACs that are working at Reach in a casual capacity • Liaise with the VIC and NSW Programs teams to ensure that these FITs and FACs have access to and are engaged in a balance of program opportunities • Implement a performance management process to ensure the FITs and FACs have clear goals and responsibilities and have access to feedback about their performance • Manage the induction of newly accredited FITs and FACs • Annually review the crew development program for the purpose of continuous improvement.

TRAINING MANAGEMENT • Manage the annual Advanced Skills training calendar with support from the Administrative Coordinator • Liaise with HR Manager and National Manager, Learning and Development to ensure the Advanced Skills training offerings are matched to the needs of the Crew and Staff cohorts.

WORKFORCE PLANNING • Identify current and projected capacity and capability of Crew • Develop and implement strategies to increase capability and capacity • In collaboration with the Programs team, manage workforce planning to ensure there is alignment in program delivery expectations and crew capability. Review and adjust, as required.

TALENT MANAGEMENT • Manage the accreditation process for FITs and FACs in collaboration with State L&D Managers • In collaboration with Crew Trainers, Program Trainers and State L&D Managers, identify talented and skilled crew with high potential to become or further develop as Facilitators and ensure a guided development pathway is established • Ensure talent management and development approaches are aligned Nationally • Match program and development opportunities for identified crew and facilitators with high potential. Seek out development opportunities for crew and facilitators to support their ongoing growth and development • Manage the Program Selection process in collaboration with the Manager, Programs in NSW and VIC.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide information, analysis and reports as required to meet management and external reporting requirements • Ensure the safety and support the wellbeing of crew and young people • Encourage crew to understand and deliver a high level of accountability and professionalism to support their growth in and out of Reach • Build respectful, trusting and healthy relationships with crew, staff and volunteers based on honest and clear communication • Embrace and maintain an up-to-date understanding of, and commitment to, Reach’s philosophies, programs and messages at all times and be able and willing to advocate for Reach, as opportunities arise • Demonstrate knowledge of, and a commitment to complying with: Reach’s Young Persons Wellbeing Policy; the Reach Code of Conduct, and all other Reach policies and programs including OH&S. This includes staff members accepting responsibility for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety, and the health and safety of others.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE • Highly desirable: Tertiary qualification in a discipline relating to human development (eg, Organisational Development; Coaching) • Desirable: Other tertiary qualification relating to human behaviour – Psychology, Social Work, Human Resources • Preferred: Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Experience working with/in partnership with young people • Knowledge, interest in and understanding of issues that affect youth • IT confidence including social media skills • Demonstrated ability to work with flexibility and adaptability in a changing and complex environment • Strong relationship skills, leadership and coaching capabilities • Experience in project management, team coordination as well as excellent administration skills • People management and performance coaching experience • Prior experience in workforce planning and capacity building. • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in a professional, confident and engaging manner

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS

• This position is based primarily at 152-156 Wellington St, Collingwood, Melbourne. • Any offer will be subject to a satisfactory Working with Children check prior to starting employment. • Must hold a current Driver’s License for an Australian state and have access to a private vehicle for work use. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Reach’s Travel and Expenditure Policy. • After hours’ work will be required for this role. Time in Lieu are in place, to compensate for the working environment and subsequent working hours that may be expected outside of standard business hours. • Some after hours and weekend participation will be required for organizational events such as Tribal Bond, crew retreats/camps, People’s Camp. • As this is a part time role, some flexibility exists in the days of work. Mondays are essential, as this is when crew training is scheduled. • Salary packaging arrangements are available to all Reach employees.
