FACT SHEET The SuperGold transport concession - Information for cardholders living outside of Auckland June 2016 What you need to know From 1 July you will need to start using an AT HOP card loaded with your SuperGold concession to continue to travel for free on Auckland public transport. SuperGold cardholders in Auckland are entitled to travel free on local trains, selected buses and ferries after 9am weekdays and all weekend. The Government’s commitment to the SuperGold Card public transport concession has not changed. Following the review of free public transport use by SuperGold cardholders in 2015, the most important thing to know is from 1 July you can still travel free just as you do now. The only difference is that Auckland Transport (AT) is transitioning the free public transport concession in Auckland to the AT HOP card from 1 July. These changes mean if you are travelling to Auckland after 1 July and wish to access the free public transport in Auckland, you will need to buy an AT HOP card and have your SuperGold Card concession details loaded onto it. What you need to know about the changes in Auckland · From 1 July 2016, you’ll need an AT HOP card to use free public transport in Auckland. · With your AT HOP card, you’ll enjoy exactly the same free travel as you do now. · Auckland Transport has advised that the AT HOP card cost of $10 applies and a $5 credit must be loaded onto the card at the same time – for a total one-off cost of $15. · Gold AT HOP cards are only available to buy at AT Customer Service Centres (list below), ticket offices or AT HOP retailers · If you live outside of Auckland and wish to purchase an AT HOP card before you arrive in Auckland, you can purchase a blue AT HOP card, register it online and later swap it for a free gold AT HOP card when you are in Auckland. · Please note however that you will not be able to load your SuperGold concession onto the blue AT HOP card online. However, registering it in advance of your arrival in Auckland will save you time when you later swap it for a free gold AT HOP card when you visit an Auckland Transport Customer Service Centre (with your SuperGold card and photo ID eg passport, driver licence or SuperGold card with photo included). · Alternatively you could wait until you are in Auckland and visit an Auckland Transport Customer Service Centre (with your SuperGold card and photo ID) and purchase a gold AT HOP card and get it registered and the SuperGold concession loaded all at the same time. Because of the number of customers visiting Auckland Transport Customer Service Centres wait times are expected to be much longer than normal in the first month or so. · If you already have a registered blue AT HOP card with your SuperGold concession loaded, you can then get this card swapped over at no cost to you for a gold one at an Auckland Transport Customer Service Centre when you arrive in Auckland. · To get an AT HOP card and for more information from Auckland Transport about what’s happening: o go to www.at.govt.nz/supergold o call Auckland Transport on 0800 AT GOLD (0800 28 4653).
