GENERAL DESCRIPTION

A. Geographical Condition

Banten Province is located in the intermediate position 05°07'50ʺ

and 07°01'01ʺ south latitude, and between 105°01'11ʺ and 106°07'12ʺ east

longitude. The area of Province is in the form of a land area of

9,662.92 km2.

Lebak which is one of eight regions in Banten Province,

located in the intermediate position 105°25' and 106°30' east longitudinal,

and between 6°18' and 7°00' south latitude. Covers

304,472 hectars or 3,044.72 km2, with the following boundaries:

North :

South : Indian Ocean

West : Pandeglang

East : , Bogor, and Sukabumi

The smallest district among all of 28 districts in Lebak Regency is in Kalanganyar which the wide of the region is 2,591 ha, while the widest district is in Cibeber with 38,315 ha in width. The average temperature in

mainland is 27,0° that makes this region is quite comfortable to live in.

There are 11 rivers that flowing in Lebak Regency, some of them

disembogue to Sea and the rest disembogue to Indonesian Ocean.

Beside rivers, there are also mountains in Lebak Regency. Nyungcung

Mountain, Halimun Mountain, and Endut Mountain, the highest is

Halimun Mountain with 1,929 m in height.

B. Government

Lebak Regency consists of 345 villages, 5,995 RT, and 1,680 RW.

The highest number of villages is located in Cibeber with 22

villages, which as we know before that Cibeber is the widest district in

Lebak Regency with 38,215 ha. While the lowest number of villages is

located in Kalanganyar with only 7 villages. With 12 as the average

number of villages in Lebak Regency, we can see that the spread of

villages in each district is quite equally.

The total number of patriarchs in Lebak Regency is 400,622, with

the highest number of patriarchs is in Rangkasbitung District.

Rangkasbitung District isn’t the widest region in Lebak Regency, but due

to the government centre is located over there, that reason makes people

are interested in living there.

C. Population and Employment

The total population in Lebak Regency is 1,299,103 people. Below

is the table of the population growth rate 2016, 2017.

According to data in the table above, the growth of population in

all of districts in Lebak Regency increase. With the total of the increasing

of population from 2016 and 2017 is 0.679%. The highest increasing of

population occurs in Cijaku which from 28,843 to 29,039, while the lowest increasing of population is in Cihara and Banjarsari with 0.677%. For the rest, the percentage of the increasing of population of the districts in Lebak

Regency is various, from 0.678%, 0.679%, 0.680%, and 0.681%.

Unlike other regions in general, we can see that the number of

female population in Lebak Regency is less than the number of male

population. It shows clearly, the total of female population is 31,489 people less that the total of male population which is 659,796 people. The largest number of female and male population in Lebak Regency is in

Rangkasbitung District. The reason behind that is because Rangkasbitung

District as the capital city of Lebak Regency. Beside the central of government administration, the location of Rangkasbitung District that is close to and Bogor become the following reasons of the largest population that stays in Rangkasbitung District.

According to the table 4.5 above, we can see that the people in

Lebak Regency that is including in economically active is more than in no

economically active in number of 581,370 and 309,416. While the rate of

open unemployment is in 8.8%, labor force participation rate is in 65.26%

with 82.86% in male and 46.84% in female respectively. And about

working opportunity rate is quite high in 91.12% with 90.7% from male

and 91.9% from female side.

For the business field, agriculture, plantation, livestock, forestry,

and fishery sector still remains the top rank as the livelihood by Lebak

Regency’s society with 46.83%. Next place is followed by trade, hotel,

and restaurant sector by 91,173 people or 17.21 in percentage. Then

14.96% in others sector, personal and social community services by

12.49%. And the last place is in industry sector by 8.51%.

D. Economic Conditions of Lebak Regency

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is the sum of values

added in a certain period. Value added is classified into 17 economy

sectors. Development of GRDP of Lebak Regency over the past five years,

2013-2017, shows an upward trend. According to the data, the amount of

GRDP based on current prices in 2013 in 16,742,046.80 million rupiah,

keep increasing to 18,594,546 million rupiah in 2014. In 2015, the GRDP

of Lebak Regency has the difference of 2,080,702 million rupiah. In 2016

and 2017 the GRDP based on current prices in Lebak Regency is more

increasing in amount of 22,527,849.14 million rupiah and 24,750,682.68

million rupiah. While the amount of GRDP based on constant prices in

2010 of Lebak Regency is starting in amount of 14,887,984.21 million rupiah in 2013, increased by 868,262.76 million rupiah to 15,756,246.97 million rupiah in 2014. In 2015 the amount is 16,679,889.37 million rupiah. In 2016 and 2017 GRDP based on constant prices in 2010 in Lebak

Regency is keep increasing in the amount of 17,620,567.86 million rupiah and 18,788,268.35 million rupiah.

From the data released by the BPS of Lebak Regency it was noted that the economic growth of Lebak Regency was seen from the GRDP having experienced a significant increase in the last five years. The Lebak

Regency Government in this case can be said to be successful in its efforts to add to the economic field through the 17 sectors of the business sector.

The economic structure of Lebak Regency in 2017 is still dominated by agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, large and retail trade, automobile and motorcycle repair, and processing industry sector.
