Makhanlal Chaturvedi Government Girls Post Graduate College a prime women educational institution for women in East Nimar district of Madhya Pradesh was established in 1963. Institution has been named in the honour of Padmashri Makhanlal Chaturvedi a great poet and freedom fighter of . The institution is affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishvavidyalaya, Indore (M.P.) since 1966. It is recognized by UGC under 2f and 12 B in July 1966 at that time it was affiliated to Dr. H.S. Gour University, Sagar (M.P.)

The college has a huge campus of approx 18 acres and has 19 undergraduate and 8 post graduate departments. The college has a highly qualified 38 faculty members with 27 teachers having Ph.D. and 2 teachers having M.Phil. Degree. Temporary staff members are recruited every year as guest faculty as per state government norms according to the requirements of respective departments. The number of students admitted each year to various undergraduate, postgraduate courses is about 1850. The admission to the various courses is made strictly according to merit by following the state government rules.

The semister examination system is followed for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The examination system is governed by rules and regulations of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. From This Year Annual examination system In UG will be implemented

The college has almost all support services like – [1]Central and departmental libraries ; [2]Sports facilities with huge play grounds [3]Hostel [4]Grievance redressal cell [5]Vehicle parking shed [6]Anti ragging committee [7]Vocational guidance cell and other various supportive administrative and academic services. During the current session the fund sanctioned by RUSA 140 lakh was spent for the infrastructure development and renovation of old building of the institute. The academic, cultural, literary, sports and other extracurricular activities help to promote over all personality development of students. A large number of students of this college have been selected in various sports and cultural activities on university and state levels. At the academic front 8 girls of the college were in university merit list. One faculty member Archana Mujmer [Commerce] awarded Ph. D. degree by DAVV

The college has also a NCC and NSS wing.. College regularly participates in all the inter- collegiate (district) tournaments organized by DAVV, Indore. Many students are selected for university (divisional) and state level team every year.The minor research projects for college teachers funded by UGC were completed during session 2016-17.

The main financial resources of the institution are from state government plan and non-plan grants and from other non-government resources, which include amalgamated funds. UGC grants for development and Janbhagidari.

On the academic front, our results show that we continue to maintain high standards of excellence. Our students have made us proud by ranking in the University Merit List. Our college Magazine “Pragya” is recognized as a knowledge & information book by the intellectuals. It is a mirror of the creative art of our students. Our aim is to transcend beyond the narrow confines of academic education and embrace the contemporary dimensions of education in totality. We are confident that our institution will set new benchmarks of performance and surpass them in the years ahead.

2.Overview (1 page)

(i) Vision,

Our plan is to ensure the empowerment and enrichment of all sections. By moulding the minds of children at a very impressionable age, it is hoped that the college can ensure an uninterrupted supply of socially, intellectually and emotionally trained human capital that would play a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of the nation.

Mission The college has been addressing the intellectual, emotional and educational needs of the people of different sections in the society over the last five decades. It enlightens the society through myriad and diverse academic and non-academic endeavours which go a long way towards sensitizing the people and triggering all round prosperity and development. Concerted efforts, well designed programmes aim at widening the mental horizons of the younger generations and in preparing them to participate in the process of nation building. Besides Infrastructure development, the college is to undertake programs and projects for development of human resources in all walks of human endeavors with value edition, societal needs and futuristic projects. Objectives 1. Education empowerment of a predominantly rural and little bit semi-urban population. 2. Imparting higher education to weaker sections of society. 3. Educational enrichment of female population 4. Promotion of three language- Hindi, English and Urdu. 5. Implementation of Govt. policy to empower weaker section (SC, ST, OBC, BPL) of society. 6. The objective of the College is to provide quality educational opportunities to young women in order to prepare them for a constructive role in the society so that they may usurp into the present competitive world. 7. To equip them in skills that is demanded by the market: we are training them by modern means. Present world is moving towards liberalization. Everybody wants to accomplish materialistic prosperity. In such situation the change in the traditional concept of family is must. Apart from the duty of housewives women should do some creative work for nation and society. Therefore we are trying to make them self dependent which is the need of hour. For the purpose we have started career oriented courses. 8. To provide an enabling environment for the development of their personalities and to nurture confidence, spirit of inquiry, and research the co-curricular activities are organized in the college. As for personality development literary, cultural and educational activities are organized which enable them a leadership quality.

(iii)History of the college with significant milestones MLC Govt. Girls College, Khandwa the only girls‟ college of the District was established in 1963, whose vision was to provide quality education to Girls from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of religion, caste, economic strata and academic performance in earlier years. The college is located in East Nimar, 50 KM. from the holy place, Omkareshwar (the famous Jyotirling) surrounded by natural beauty and supported by the infrastructure, providing the right environment for learning.

Under self financial scheme we are running seven courses- Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Clinical Nutrition, B.A. with Computer, B.Sc. with Computer, B.Com. with Computer. From this session two more courses are started – Office Management & Secretarial Pattern & M.com. On the academic front, our results show that we continue to maintain high standards of excellence. In first round of NAAC Accreditation in 2006 we have got “B+” Grade and in 2013 the second round of NAAC accreditation We have got “A” grade.

Personal enhancement & development schemes- NCC, NSS, Facilities The College is running N.S.S. Unit for about 35 years The unit performed many regular activities through these years. 7 day camp was organised from 32 oct 2015 to 6 Nov 2015 at Chegaon devi. for physically challenged & slow learners; Tutor-Guardian Scheme, Grievance Redressal Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell, Remedial classes, Career Guidance Cell. We have a career counseling cell which helps students to decide on the most suitable course and /or employment opportunity depending upon their abilities. The institution organizes industrial visits in order to have direct interface with the industry. Lectures by entrepreneurs are arranged to discuss various areas of business.

To facilitate entrepreneurial skills among the students “Career Awsar Mela” was organized in our lead college in which various government and non-government organizations give information regarding job and entrepreneurial skill. Doubt classes are engaged for slow learners. We inculcate the subject to slow learners by repetition of C.C.E. Grievance cell works under a professor-in-charge. It has representation from students and staff. We have a suggestion box placed on the first floor, which is a medium for our students

17 to come out with their grievances/suggestions, without disclosing their identity. Prompt action is taken for redressal of grievances.

Role of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in academic audit and initiating quality assurance strategies and processes

In the beginning of session IQAC prepare the time table of the institution .IQAC in its meeting with faculty members advice them to convene annual plan meeting at the beginning of session, assign syllabus and time table to department teachers, prepare time schedule for

CCE. It also collects annual report from all teachers and assess their performance and progress. IQAC also suggests the department to organize seminars, educational tour and excursions. In this way IQAC monitors and evaluate the teaching and learning process of the institution. Informal interaction from time to time with other stakeholders, teaching as well as non-teaching staff and responsible citizens from society through students feedback.
