Krzysztof Kwiatkowski has taken an oath before the and has been officially appointed President of the Supreme Audit Office. The first thing in his six-year term of office was a meeting with NIK management.

”Assuming the office of the President of the Supreme Audit Office I solemnly swear to be faithful to the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of and discharge my duties impartially and with utmost care” - these have been the words of the oath taken by the President of NIK before the Sejm, pursuant to Article 15 of the Act on NIK.

Krzysztof Kwiatkowski is the sixth President of NIK after 1989. He was born on 14 May 1971 in Zgierz. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the . He was an activist of the Independent Students’ Union, being a member of its management. From 1997 to 2001, he was Advisor and Secretary of the President of the Council of Ministers, . In 2006, he was elected a member of the Provincial Assembly of Łódź where he took the position of Deputy Chair.

In 2007, he was elected Senator from Łódź District. He served as the head of the Senate’s Legislative Committee. In February 2009, he became Secretary of the State in the Ministry of Justice. On 14 October 2009, he was appointed Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General. In the Parliamentary elections in 2011 he received a seat in the Sejm from Łódź District.

On 26 July 2013, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski was appointed President of the Supreme Audit Office by the Sejm. On 9 August 2013, his appointment to the Head of NIK was ratified by the Senate. On 27 August 2013, after being sworn in at the Sejm, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski has started his six-year term of office as President of the Supreme Audit Office.
