(Preservation) Act 1965'. This Worimbi Warimbi) in Kanganaman Village, was severely damaged in an earthquake and Latmul area, Middle Sepik Province, inspected in 1980 by Soroi Marepo Eoe (b.1954) Papua New Guinea. Represents a the Assistant Curator Anthropology (1979-1983), young woman. Purchased by Laurie National Museum Papua New Guinea. The finials Bragge from Elders of Kanganaman were undamaged and saved by village Elders and Village. See full crocodile story and offered for sale with a export permit issued. The notes. Elders stated that it is 'important that the old [finials] replaced item then be removed from the area, as for old and new to be together creates spiritual conflict similar to when a man tried to bring a second wife into his home'. The finial figures represent a story of a young woman and an old woman who was known as the jealous axe. This shield was made to avenge their deaths when Atbalmin left Unanklimin and crossed the Sepik River into the Mianmin setllement of Ivikmin. The Ivikmin leader named Yamsap (see photo in Bragge's notes) saw them and engaged in conversation about their intentions. Ten of the victims were from Yamsap's wife's family. He took their shield and broke it in two with his heel and told them to return home to Unanklimin. 3 Bragge Material Culture Collection 2018.02.004 Shield Artefact Weapon Wooden War shield from the 5 L1480 x Melanesian Telefolmin West Sepik OS.1.2 The seller Sinoksep Mebunisep was a Government Telefomin people, West Sepik W540mm District, Province, Papua Interpreter and had been awarded a Loyal Service Province, Papua New Guinea. February 1953. This shield has more than a dozen arrows embedded in the surface and used during ongoing warfare between the Telefol speakers, particularly of Eliptamin and the Mianmin. That was raged back and forth with the boundary established in the 1930sas being the Fak River. North of the river is Mianmin, south of it is Telefol. See notes. 2018.02.005.f- Charms Artefact Charms Two round 'Bwalai' stones (f-g) with 7.26/7.f-g Melanesian Kiriwina Milne Bay OS.1.3 Kula exchange or Kula ring, is a ceremonial g holes at centres, carried on Kula Island, Province, Papua exchange system conducted in the Milne Bay voyages and believed by Massim Trobriand New Guinea Province (people from Milne Bay region), to Islands bring good luck in sailing and weather, as well as protection from influences of 'sea witches'.
