Studia Litteraria Universitatis Iagellonicae Cracoviensis 2019, special issue, pp. 231–243 Volume in Honour of Professor Anna Krasnowolska doi:10.4467/20843933ST.19.037.10980 www.ejournals.eu/Studia-Litteraria JOLANTA SIERAKOWSKA-DYNDO University of Warsaw e-mail: [email protected] Polish Judge Defended the Iranian Stance (Anglo-Iranian Dispute in 1951) Abstract The nationalization of oil fields in Iran on 20 March 1951 turned into a conflict between the British and Iranian governments. It was a heavy blow for the oil company from Great Britain, which since the beginning of the 20th century was present in Iran (since 1933 under the name of Anglo-Persian Oil Company, the name was changed for Anglo-Iranian Oil Company). British government lodged a complaint against Iran with the International Court of Justice, and then on 22 June 1951 filed a further request for the interim measures of protection to be implemented until the dispute is resolved. Two of the judges of the International Court of Justice gave a dissenting opinion in this case, one of them was a Polish judge, Bohdan Winiarski. In his opinion, and also opinion of Egyptian judge Abdel Hamid Badawi Pasha, the British government was not a party to the contract because it was signed between the Ira- nian Government and the Anglo-Persian Oil Company not with the British Government. This opinion was accepted by the International Court of Justice in Hague. The positive verdict of the Court was a huge victory for Iran. Without doubt, the Polish judge, Bohdan Winiarski, contributed to it.

  • CHAPTER II. DISCUSSION of the PROBLEM and SOLUTION Here
CHAPTER II. DISCUSSION OF THE PROBLEM AND SOLUTION Here are the data found through literature review which explains about all the journey of Rumi on turning to Sufi mystic and Poet: II. 1 A Brief Introduction of Rumi Maulana Rumi was born in Persian Empire, on Eastern shores in Balkh city that is current Afghanistan on September 30, 1207. In order to avoid the Mongol’s invasion his family moved to Turkey and settled in the city today known as Konya. In the first years of 2000 Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi had known to be one of the most readable Persian poets on the West. People say he is on the same level as Mozart, Beathoven and Shakespeare for his talent and creativity. In our time, countries such Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan call the Sufis their national poets, but none of these countries actually existed at that time. Iran was known as Persian Empire, with its monarchy, and the area of this empire was much larger than today. This territory now includes the territories of modern countries of Iran, Afghanistan, as well as parts of Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Iraq. Turkey was not yet formed, and Afghanistan was part of the province of Khorasan in the old Persian Empire. In general, Rumi's life story is full of intrigues and drama, mixed with intense creative flashbacks. Rumi was a charming, wealthy nobleman, a brilliant theologian, a law professor and intelligent, wise scientist, who, at the age of thirty, met a wild man Shams. Rumi himself said that after meeting with Shams, he has changed from an ordinary student to a scientist, who realized that he was a seeker of passion for truth and universal love (Shahram Shiva 2018).

Jalal ad-Din Rumi was born in Balkh in Khorasan in 1207. Rumi was himself the son of an eminent teacher, Baha-ud-Din Valad, who was also called “the Sultan of the scholars”. It is in his memory that his grandson, Sultan Valad, was also called Baha-ud-Din. In 1219, Rumi’s father had to flee from Khorasan because of the Mongol invasion. The family ended up settling down in Anatolia, at Konya, capital of the Seljuk Empire. This is where Jalal ad-Din Rumi succeeded to his father as the head of a theology college.

  • Deterring Iran: Lessons from History | the Washington Institute
MENU Policy Analysis / PolicyWatch 1540 Deterring Iran: Lessons from History Jun 24, 2009 Brief Analysis n June 18, 2009, David Crist and Steven Ward addressed a special Policy Forum at The Washington Institute O to discuss the lessons that Iran and the United States drew from their military encounters in the 1980s. David Crist is senior historian for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and author of the forthcoming Washington Institute study, Gulf of Conflict: a History of U.S.-Iranian Confrontation at Sea (2009). Steven Ward is a senior CIA intelligence analyst and author of the critically acclaimed Immortal: A Military History of Iran and Its Armed Forces (2009). Steven Ward Immortal argues that Iran's history provides important insights into the country's current military practices, doctrine, and tactics. Understanding this history would give the United States and its allies the tools to deter and, if necessary, to contain and combat the Islamic Republic. Different Iranian governments throughout history have faced many of the same national security problems and consequently have developed many of the same solutions. Some of the recurring issues that have shaped Iran's history include the political elite's relationship with the armed forces, the role of the dominant religious establishment, the government's continual struggle to maintain central authority against competing power centers, and the country's frequent confrontations with technologically superior enemies. Despite these internal obstacles, Iran has been able to use unconventional military, political, and economic means to frustrate U.S. regional aims for decades. Certain aspects of Iran's military history echo in its current armed forces.

  • "Mevlana Rumi- the Persian Poet of Divine Love and Mysticism"
www.ijcrt.org © 2021 IJCRT | Volume 9, Issue 4 April 2021 | ISSN: 2320-2882 "Mevlana Rumi- The Persian Poet of Divine Love and Mysticism" By: DR SHEERAZA AKHTER Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Persian, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, J&K, India E-mail: [email protected] Keywords: Mevlana Rumi, Persian, Masnavi, Sufi, Divan, Shamsi Tabrizi, Mystic Mevlana Khodavandgar Jalaluddin Muhammad Balkhi Rumi, popularly known as Mevlana Rumi, is arguably the finest Persian poet of all times who had a great influence on Muslim writing and culture. His poetry is still well known throughout the modern world, and he is one of the best selling poets even in modern-day America. He was born in 1207 AD to native Persian-speaking parents in Balkh in present-day Afghanistan. Increasing Mongol attacks forced his family to leave Afghanistan, who travelled to Baghdad, Mekkah, Damascus and finally settled in Konya in Turkey. Rumi was the son of a renowned Sufi scholar, Sultan-ul-Ulama Baha-ud-Din Walad, and consequently he was introduced to Sufism from a very young age. Sufism is a branch of Islam primarily concerned with developing the spirituality, or more precisely, the inner character of a Muslim. In fact, much of Rumi’s work is dedicated to waking people up from the deep materialistic slumber, and inspiring them to experience life themselves, rather blindly following the scholars of the day. The most important influences upon Rumi, besides his father, were the Persian poets Attar and Sanai. Rumi expresses his appreciation for the poets in these words: “Attar was the spirit, Sanai his eyes twain, And in time thereafter, came we in their train” “Attar has traversed the seven cities of Love, We are still at the turn of one street” Rumi witnessed the greatest turning point in his life when he met a travelling Sufi, named Shams-ud-Din of Tabriz or Shams-i-Tabrizi which changed the whole course of his life.

  • The Iranian Nexus: Peace As a Substantive and Complex Value in the History of Iran
The Iranian Nexus: Peace as a Substantive and Complex Value in the History of Iran Author: Siavosh Bigonah Malmö University Department of Global Political Studies Peace and Conflict Studies Bachelor Thesis, 15 credits Spring 2016, FKV III, FK103S Supervised by Dr. Ane Kirkegaard Word count: 16 465 Abstract This study explores Iran’s political and cultural history in order to better understand the country’s current stance on international politics and peace. This study asks: what defines peace in Iranian discourse? To this end, this thesis employs a Foucauldian archaeological and genealogical methodology on historical research and contemporary primary sources. The historical data is mainly secondary sources, whilst primary sources are drawn from contemporary speeches, interviews and articles presenting Iranian foreign political thought. First of all, this study uncovers the major research gaps concerning Iran in peace research. This speaks to the general lack of diversity and inclusiveness in the subject of Peace and Conflict studies, and hence contrary to its claim of being universally relevant. Relevance comes with knowledge of other traditions and conversations across divides, which is typically absent in a universalised provincialism. Secondly, contemporary Iranian political discourse represents a continuity from antiquity, incorporating deep-rooted practises of cosmopolitanism and structural peace, represented by 4000-years of experiences in state- building, conflict management, continuous movement of people and changing centres of political power. In short, Iran has a long experience of multi-polarity, multi-ethnicity and multi-religiosity across time and space. Prologue In October 1978, Foucault wrote an article in Le Nouvel Observarteur, where he explains in his own views what the Iranian revolution was all about.
