Provenance: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archives Project purchased collection in the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC) Jerusalem, Israel and transferred duplicated records to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in Mar. 2005. Restrictions on Access: No restrictions on access. Restriction on Use: The USHMM Archives will not provide a reproduction of microfilm reels to any third party but researchers can make copies of individual documents. Researchers should give a credit to the AJJDC Archives in Jerusalem when citing documents from the microfilm. Organization and Arrangement: Organized in the following order: Reels 1-61, The JDC Office in Geneva: 1946 – 1962. Incorporates odd files of the JDC Offices in Lisbon (1940-1945) and Brussels (1939-1947); Reels 62-103, The JDC Office in Stockholm: 1943-1966; Reels 104-131, The JDC Office in Istanbul: 1942-1950; Reels 132-135, Additional files from different collections that were not microfilmed in the proper sequence.1937-1953. Biography: The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC) was founded in 1914 to assist Palestinian Jews caught in the throes of World War I. JDC has aided millions of Jews in more than 85 countries.
