The pavilion of Ahmad Shah Qajarwas built in the late Qajar period.During the reign of the Pahlavi Dynasty, a modern built mansion named Niavaran House was built for the imperial family of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. All of the peripheral buildings of the Saheb Qaranie House, with the exception of the Ahmad Shahi Pavilion, were demolished, and the buildings and structures of the present-day complex were built to the north of the Saheb Qaranie House. Iran’s Persian Garden is one of the sites inscribed on UNESCO’s List in 2011. The property includes nine gardens in as many provinces. They exemplify the diversity of Persian garden designs that evolved and adapted to different climate conditions while retaining principles that have their roots in the times of Cyrus the Great, 6th century BC. Always divided into four sectors, with water playing an important role for both irrigation and ornamentation, the Persian garden was conceived to symbolize Eden and the four Zoroastrian elements of sky, earth, water and plants. These gardens, dating back to different periods since the 6th century BC, also feature buildings, pavilions and walls, as well as sophisticated irrigation systems. They have influenced the art of garden design as far as India and Spain. Persian Garden is a well-known garden style in the world. Besides overcoming the environmental restraints, creators of Persian Gardens have also manifested cultures and beliefs of people living in this land in their work; and that’s the reason orientalists have known Persian Garden a symbol of “Promised Paradise”. Persian Garden is in a great harmony with its natural and cultural surroundings and cannot be identified segregated from Iran’s characteristics and peoples’ culture and belief. Cultural Landscape Association (CLA) is planning to organize a specialized tour and workshop called “Taste Paradise” in an international level for the experts, in order to get a better global recognition for Persian Garden and the elite to know it further.

Religion, arts, pottery and weaving have been developed to a high degree. Ancient cultures and settlements have existed on the Iranian Plateau since the fourth millennium BCE. Many great empires came and went. In the 13th century, the Mongols invaded and killed most of the inhabitants and destroyed most of the cities. The following centuries were marked by constant wars with neighbouring states. It wasn’t until 1906 that the nation’s first parliament was established, however a coup led by Reza Khan (Shah) in 1921, toppled the government. In 1925 he replaced the ruling Qajar Dynasty founding his own Pahlavi Dynasty. In 1941 the Shah was exiled and replaced with his son Mohammad Reza Shah. The Pahlavi’s are credited with the development of Iran’s modern industry, transport and education system. They did however, with their autocratic rule, manage to alienate many of their countrymen including the religious leaders. Eventually, the Ayatollah Khomeini’s revolution toppled the Pahlavi Dynasty in 1979. Formerly Persia until 1939, the country is now officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is a mountainous and generally arid country with the interior containing a vast salt wasteland. Much of the terrain is unpassable and as such, is yet to be explored. Its population is diverse and consists of many ethnic and religious backgrounds.

It was one of the most important cities in the medieval Islamic world and was the Iranian capital during the Zand dynasty (AD 1747–79), when many of its most beautiful buildings were built or restored. This city is situated in the south east of Iran and is the capital city of Fars Province, with a population of about 1 500 000. Shiraz is mild in spring and hot in the summer. The autumns in Shiraz are not too cold; however, the winters tend to be quite cold. Sites to Visit: The Shrine of Shahe-e-Cheragh Sayyed Mir Ahmad,one of Imam Reza’s 17 brothers, was hunted down and killed by the caliphate on this site in AD 835. His remains are housed at the glittering Aramgah-e Shah-e Cheragh. A mausoleum was first erected over the grave during the 12th century but most of what you see dates from the late-Qajar period and the Islamic Republic; expansion is ongoing. Persepolis Persepolis (Old Persian: Pārsa,Takht-e Jamshid or Chehel Minar) was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550-330BCE). Persepolis is situated 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz in the Fars Province of modern Iran. In contemporary Persian,the site is known as Takht-e Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid).

    Iran Triplog October 10 to 12.We started the trip with an overnight,13-hour Qatar flight to Doha; followed by a 7-hour layover; and then a 2.5-hour flight to Tehran, arriving at 4 am on the 12th. We whisked through security and immigration (unlike others whose luggage was thoroughly searched) and we were met at the airport by a driver and the assistant guide, Javad. The drive to the Espinas Hotel (which turned out to be the best hotel of the trip) took about an hour and we checked in and napped for 3 hours or so before going to breakfast. October 12. We were pleased to discover when we checked in that the breakfast was included. It was a selection of yoghurts, cheeses, breads, cereals, various fruits, dates, honey, a spinach frittata “cucu sabzi”, etc., as well 3 or 4 hot selections and an omelet station. To varying degrees, this was the breakfast at each hotel, so we had lots of options and plenty of food. After breakfast, we walked around the neighborhood a bit, then walked to Laleh Park and spent some time walking there. It’s a very large park, and each time we walked there we discovered a new section. There is a small Japanese area with stepping stones, a stage with cement seating, an area where locals blocked off sections and put up nets for net games, a long waterway flanked with blooming oleander, sculptures of historical figures, and flower beds in various areas, a pond, an area of woods…oh, and lots of very well-fed cats.
