G.N. 1032 HIGHWAYS DEPARTMENT CONTRACT NO. HY/2001/16 ROUTE 9—NAM WAN TUNNEL AND WEST TSING YI VIADUCT PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMME ITEM NO.: 6711 TH (PART) NOTICE OF PREQUALIFICATION OF TENDERERS It is intended to invite tenders in August 2002 from prequalified contractors for Contract No. HY/2001/16: Route 9—Nam Wan Tunnel and West Tsing Yi Viaduct. The tenders to be invited will be covered by the Agreement on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organization. The works of the contract will involve the construction of a dual 3-lane Nam Wan Tunnel approximately 1.2 km long and West Tsing Yi Viaduct (with hard shoulder) approximately 1.0 km long connecting the tunnel with Cheung Tsing Highway. The works will also involve the construction of a control building and portal structures and the installation of the associated electrical and mechanical systems for the tunnel. The contract is expected to commence in February 2003 with a contract period of 52 months. Contractors meeting the following requirements:— (a) being on the List of Approved Contractors for Public Works confirmed for Group C in the Roads and Drainage Category; and (b) having undertaken a road tunnel contract of not less than HK$300 million within the last TEN years and a highway contract, involving construction of elevated highway structure, of not less than HK$200 million within the last FIVE years in Hong Kong or overseas and any other requirements in the prequalification documents are invited to apply in writing to:— Ove Arup and Partners Hong Kong Ltd. Completed prequalification applications shall be submitted to the Chief Engineer/Major Works 3-1, Major Works Project Management Office, Highways Department at 6th Floor, Ho Man Tin Government Offices, 88 Chung Hau Street, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon, Hong Kong not later than 12.00 noon on 3 April 2002. Joint ventures with participation of local and/or overseas contractors not on the Approved List will be considered provided that the lead member must be on the List of Approved Contractors for Public Works confirmed for Group C in the Roads and Drainage Category.
