Marzysz, by znaleźć się wśród życzliwych ludzi i gościnnych gospodarzy? A może chciałbyś przenieść się w przeszłość? Wybierz się w podróż po Krainie Dolnego Powiśla, gdzie bogata historia pozostawiła niezwykle barwną mozaikę przyrody, kultury i obyczajów. Mieszkańcami tych ziem były pruskie plemiona Pomezanów, Słowianie, a od XIII wieku Koloniści niemieccy, którzy przybyli z Zakonem Krzyżackim. Tereny te zamieszkiwali również Mennonici. Różnorodność kulturowa i wyznaniowa miała wpływ na architekturę zarówno obiektów sakralnych, jak też świeckich, co nadało niepowtarzalności temu skrawkowi Polski. O naszej krainie pisali Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Stanisław Tarnowski, Elwir Michał Andriolli, Stefan Żeromski czy Melchior Wańkowicz. Na szczęście, burzliwe dzieje oraz zniszczenia wojenne niesione falami zawirowań historii nie zdołały zniweczyć wszystkich śladów przeszłości, a ziemie te nie zatraciły swojego powiślańskiego piękna, które pomimo rozwoju cywilizacji i wyraźnej tendencji zacierania się różnic kulturowych zachowało swoją odmienność po dziś dzień. Mamy nadzieję, że ten album pozwoli na wirtualną podróż po Krainie Dolnego Powiśla i nie będzie „prostym zabijaniem czasu” wg słów Iwaszkiewicza, natomiast zachęci do rzeczywistych wędrówek i odkrywania tego, naszego, skrawka ziemi.
