Oslofjord Ecologies Renewable FutuRes, Issue 3 / acoustIc space, Volume 18 Oslofjord Ecologies Oslofjord — “Oslofjord Ecologies” marks the tenth anniversary of the Renewable Network – a Baltic-Nordic collaboration focusing on artistic practices that offer new ideas to overcome the crises of the past and present, working with science and ‘techno-ecolo- gies’, and developing new models for more sustainable and im- aginative ways of life. “Oslofjord Ecologies” is the third issue of “Renewable Futures”, a special Acoustic Space series, presented by guest editor Kristin Bergaust, artist and professor from Oslo Metropolitan University. The articles and visual representations in this book are attempts to communicate our experiences and develop questions and con- cerns following our engagement with Oslofjord Ecologies. The contributors are artists who have presented ideas and developed works in the project exhibitions and activities, as well as authors engaged in transdisciplinary discussions on art and ecology. Authors of the research papers: Venke Aure, Kristin Bergaust, Boel Christensen-Scheel, Tona Gulpinar and Anneke von der Fehr, Helene Illeris, Sabine Popp, Merete Røstad, Elin T. Sørensen, Gunhild Vatn, Nina Vestby. The album visually presents the Oslofjord Ecologies exhibitions, performances and activities by participating artists. Stability and water leakage of hard rock subsea tunnels B. Nilsen The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway A. Palmstrøm Norconsult as, Sandvika, Norway ABSTRACT: The many undersea tunnels along the coast of Norway offer excellent opportunities to study the key factors determining stability and water leakage in hard rock subsea tunnels. About 30 such tunnels have been constructed in Norway the last 20 years, all of them excavated by drill and blast. The longest tunnel is 7.9 km with its deepest point 260 metres below sea level. Although all tunnels are located in Precambrian or Palaeozoic rocks, some of them have encountered complex faulting or less competent rocks like shale and schist. The severe tunnelling problems met in these tunnels emphasise the need of a better understanding of the key factors determining stability and water leakage of such projects. This has been discussed based on the experience from several completed projects. 1 INTRODUCTION 2 CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBSEA TUNNELS In Norway, about 30 subsea tunnels, comprising Compared to conventional tunnels, subsea tunnels more than 100 km have been built the last 20 years. are quite special in several ways. Her har særleg arbeidsinnvandringa vore avgjerande.

  • Friedrich Schiller - Poems
Classic Poetry Series Friedrich Schiller - poems - Publication Date: 2012 Publisher: Poemhunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive Friedrich Schiller(10 November 1759 – 9 May 1805) Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller was a German poet, philosopher, historian, and playwright. During the last seventeen years of his life, Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with already famous and influential <a href="http://www.poemhunter.com/johann-wolfgang-von- goethe/">Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe</a>. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics, and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works he left as sketches. This relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Xenien, a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents to their philosophical vision. <b>Life</b> Friedrich Schiller was born on 10 November 1759, in Marbach, Württemberg as the only son of military doctor Johann Kaspar Schiller (1733–96), and Elisabeth Dorothea Kodweiß (1732–1802). They also had five daughters. His father was away in the Seven Years' War when Friedrich was born. He was named after king Frederick the Great, but he was called Fritz by nearly everyone. Kaspar Schiller was rarely home during the war, but he did manage to visit the family once in a while. His wife and children also visited him occasionally wherever he happened to be stationed. When the war ended in 1763, Schiller's father became a recruiting officer and was stationed in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The family moved with him. Due to the high cost of living—especially the rent—the family moved to nearby Lorch.

Welcome to the Tre Lag Stevne in South Saint Paul, Minnesota. We were last in the Twin Cities area in 2009 in this same location. In a metropolitan area of this size it is not as easy to see the results of the Norwegian immigration as in smaller towns and rural communities. But the evidence is there if you look for it. This year’s speakers will tell the story of the Norwegians who contributed to the richness of American culture through literature, art, architecture, politics, medicine and science. You may recognize a few of their names, but many are unsung heroes who quietly added strands to the fabric of America and the world. We hope to astonish you with the diversity of their talents. Our tour will take us to the first Norwegian church in America, which was moved from Muskego, Wisconsin to the grounds of Luther Seminary,. We’ll stop at Mindekirken, established in 1922 with the mission of retaining Norwegian heritage. It continues that mission today. We will also visit Norway House, the newest organization to promote Norwegian connectedness. Enjoy the program, make new friends, reconnect with old friends, and continue to learn about our shared heritage.

The main argument of this work is that the partnership between the Christian Democratic Party of Chile (PDC) and the United States in this period played a significant role in shaping Chilean politics and thus contributed to its growing polarization. The alliance between the PDC and the United States was based as much on their common views on communism as on their shared ideas about modernization and economic development. Furthermore, the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, headed by men strongly committed to the success of the Christian Democratic project, involved itself heavily in the inner workings of Chilean politics as an informal actor, unable to dictate terms but capable of exerting influence on local actors whose interests converged with those of the United States.
