After World War II, UP transferred its campus from Manila to Diliman, Quezon City, and the library started to be reorganized in 1954. Under the administration of President Carlos P. Romulo, the then Conservatory of Music officially became a college in 1968. Flores The criticism of Alice Guillermo presents an instance in which the encounter of the work of art resists a series of possible alienations even as it profoundly acknowledges the integrity of distinct form. The critic in this situation attentively dwells on the material of this form so that she may be able to explicate the ecology and the sociality without which it cannot concretize. The work of art, therefore, becomes the work of the world, extensively and deeply conceived. Such present-ness is vital as the critic faces the work in the world and tries to ramify that world beyond what is before her. This is one alienation that is calibrated. The work of art transpiring in the world becomes the work of the critic who lets it matter in language, freights it and leavens it with presence so that human potential unerringly turns plastic, or better still, animate: Against the cold stone, tomblike and silent, are the living glances, supplicating, questioning, challenging, or speaking—the eyes quick with feeling or the movements of thought, the mouths delicately shaping speech, the expressive gestures, and the bodies in their postures determined by the conditions of work and social circumstance. -

LO SINIESTRO EN EL INFIERNO DE LA DIVINA COMEDIA: UNA LECTURA DE LAS IMÁGENES LITERARIA E ICONOLÓGICA Maria Fernanda Muñoz Aguilar Universidad Santo Tomás Facultad de Filosofía y Letras Licenciatura en Filosofía y Lengua Castellana Bogotá D.C., Colombia 2019 LO SINIESTRO EN EL INFIERNO DE LA DIVINA COMEDIA: UNA LECTURA DE LAS IMÁGENES LITERARIA E ICONOLÓGICA Maria Fernanda Muñoz Aguilar Monografía de Grado presentada como requisito para optar al título de: Licenciada en Filosofía y Lengua Castellana Asesor: César Augusto Vásquez García Universidad Santo Tomás Facultad de Filosofía y Letras Licenciatura en Filosofía y Lengua Castellana Bogotá D.C., Colombia 2019 Resumen En el presente trabajo de grado se desarrolla una propuesta de lectura iconológica para el Canto de El Infierno de la Divina comedia desde la categoría de lo siniestro, tomando como referentes la teoría estética del filósofo español Eugenio Trías en Lo bello y lo siniestro (1982), el método iconográfico e iconológico del historiador alemán Erwin Panofsky (1892- 1968) propuesto en El significado de las artes visuales (1955), y las ilustraciones para la Divina comedia de diferentes artistas, en específico las creadas en 1861 por Gustave Doré (1832-1883). Para el desarrollo de esta lectura iconológica se presenta, en un primer momento, el estudio estético de lo siniestro teniendo en cuenta las categorías de lo bello y de lo sublime, en un segundo momento, se analiza el método de lectura iconográfico e iconológico en relación con las imágenes textuales y pictóricas, y; en un tercer y último momento, se desarrolla la propuesta de lectura para El Infierno de la Divina comedia, desde fuentes literarias e iconográficas en las artes plásticas. -

NINETEENTH CENTURY GENDER STUDIES Issue 17.1 (Spring 2021) Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party Goes Virtual: Engaged Performance in the Online Classroom By Christa DiMarco, The University of the Arts <1>Preparing for my online Women Artists course in the midst of a global pandemic prompted me to redesign my undergraduate assessment measures. Instead of short-answer exams and research essays that asked students to analyze works of art and apply key concepts, I shifted toward active-learning assignments that drew inspiration from the Reacting to the Past (RTTP) learning model.(1) RTTP is generally a complex game that immerses students in the character of a historical figure to enact a nuanced, collaborative classroom exchange rooted in a significant event, like the French Revolution. Following bell hooks’s 1994 call to implement “engaged pedagogy,” April Lidinsky argues that RTTP has long been a part of feminist pedagogy and is well-suited to feminist subject matter because it promotes community building and empathy (hooks 15; Lidinsky 208). In addition, role-playing can elicit robust student engagement in a new subject, make course material accessible to at-risk students, and encourage student retention (Lidinsky 208). As I would find out, such an approach invigorated the virtual classroom. <2>My end-of-semester project invited students to attend a Virtual Dinner Party (see Fig. 1) based on Judy Chicago’s (1939–) iconic feminist installation The Dinner Party (1974–1979) (Chicago). The Dinner Party is an ideal work of art to support active learning. Its construction began in 1972 and necessitated the skilled labor of four hundred staff and volunteers. -

Hernandez, N.V.M.
