Education Values Based on the Thinking of K.H. Choer EDUCATION VALUES BASED ON THE THINKING OF K.H. CHOER AFFANDI AND THEIR RELEVANCE TO THE MODERN EDUCATION (The Study of The Legendary Islamic Scholar Of Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya) Tatang Hidayat Islamic Religious Education Studies Program, Postgraduate School, Indonesia University of Education [email protected]; Syahidin Islamic Religious Education Studies Program, Postgraduate School, Indonesia University of Education [email protected] Abstract: The existence of pesantrens in the Indonesian archipelago, such as Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya is a major transformation for the development of the national education system. This present study aims at investigating the educational values based on the thinking of K.H. Choer Affandi and their relevance to the modern education. This study employed a qualitative approach and descriptive method. In this present study, the researcher acted as the main instrument. The data collection techniques employed in this study covered interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Based on the results of the study, it showed that K.H Choer Affandi was a salafiyah Islamic scholar born from a knowledgeable, fighter, and noble family. Coming from the aforementioned reason, he was eventually active in education realms and movements. Educational values of K.H. Choer Affandi consist of iman and taqwa values, leadership, independence, discipline, honesty, persistence (istiqomah), courage (syaja'ah), intelligence and simplicity values (tawaḍu) Therefore, the educational values of K.H. Choer Affandi is still relevant in modern education today, because modern education has lost its essential meaning, revoked from the roots of the values of education itself. The organization structure of the mosque is good enough, which already has AD/ART (basic budget/household budget) and complete organization structure that are appropriate with other mosques in general. For the SWOT analysis, the strengths are the location of the mosque which is located on STM busy main road so that many congregants who are travelers or who are from around Medan city come to pray at the mosque, there are young mosque activists who are adept on technology, and mosque facilities and infrastructures that are adequate. The weaknesses are the lack of mosque development, the absence of mosque publication on social media and the lack of active participation of the elected mosque administrators. This determines mosques make financial statement as part of responsibility and have obligation to report it to the users of financial statement. Therefore, this research aimed to find out how accountability and transparency of mosques’ financial management; as well as method of related statement in accordance with its standard which established by Indonesian Accounting Association (IAA) for non-profit organization, i.e. PSAK No.45 at Raya Sabilal Muhtadin Mosque. Moreover, the research was descriptive qualitative. Furthermore, the data were secondary in from of financial statement documents and interview result among mosque administrator namely head of Takmir, treasurer, and mosque accountant; also two jamaah as its primary data. Additionally, from the research result, it was proven that the mosque had managed its finance accountably. In other words, there was financial statement book-keeping. In addition, the financial statement was reported well and in had successfully increased society on mosque financial statement report. Masjid menjadi sorotan masyarakat dalam hal keterbukaan mengenai sumber dana masjid yang diberikan oleh para donatur maupun dari dana infaq. The formulation of the problem in this study described on how the public perception of West Angkola Subdistrict on the deposit of mosque funds in the house of mosque administrators and what factors caused mosque administrators to make decisions by saving mosque funds in the administrator house. This study discussed the perceptions of the people of West Angkola District on the storage of mosque funds in the house of the mosque management. This research was a qualitative study using primary data with 60 samples. Data collection techniques were interviews, observation, namely observing an event in the field. The results of the study indicated that the perceptions of the people of West Angkola Subdistrict on the deposit of mosque funds in the house of the mosque administrator had a positive perception of the decision of mosque administrators in saving mosque funds. The community had high confidence in the decision of the mosque management in managing mosque funds. One of the factors influencing the decision to make mosque funds in the mosque administrator house was the sense of public trust in the mosque administrators in saving funds.
