Départ du triathlon au format S Après PUERTO RICO, qui avait organisé le 1er championnat du monde scolaire de triathlon en octobre 2013 - où la délégation française était revenue couverte d’OR ! , c’est la France qui a été officiellement choisie pour organiser la 2ème édition de cette compétition internationale organisée sous l’égide de l’INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SPORT FÉDÉRATION -I.S.F- L’implantation de ce triathlon est prévue à Versailles le 30 mai 2015 sur le très beau site de la pièce d’eau des Suisses. Dans cette perspective alléchante, la France a décidé de mettre en place un véritable sélectif. En effet, au cours du briefing du dernier championnat de France de triathlon UNSS à Xonrupt en mai 2014, les responsables de l’UNSS préci- saient aux professeurs d’EPS de lycées qu’un sélectif serait mis en place dés le 7 septembre 2014 sur l’épreuve du 25ème triathlon de JOUE LES TOURS ! Avis aux amateurs ! Cette décision n’avait d’ailleurs pas fait l’unanimité chez les enseignants concernés, notamment à cause de la date beaucoup trop précoce par rapport à la rentrée scolaire (seulement 6 jours après la rentrée...), mais aussi quand on sait que ce championnat du monde aura lieu dans seulement 9 mois ! Résultats des courses, ce sélectif n’a mis en concurrence que 5 malheureux établissements alors que le dernier championnat de France de triathlon UNSS de XONRUPT avait réuni pas moins de 33 lycées dont 10 sections sportives...     IMG ACTION SPORTS PRESS RELEASE 8 TH OCTOBER 2008 Some of the world’s leading professional triathletes and a host of overseas amateur triathletes will once again be in Bermuda to compete in the 2008 edition of the Escape to Bermuda Triathlon on Sunday 2 nd November. The race, organized by IMG one of the world’s leading sports promoters, consists of a 1500 meter swim from a government ferry to Dockyard, a 40km bike ride across the island to St. Georges and a two loop 10km run around St. Georges finishing in the Town Square. This year’s event has attracted a bumper field of overseas and local participants in both the team and individual events with the overseas entries closing some months ago. Leading the way amongst the professional male triathletes will be Australian Chris McCormack, the 2007 Hawaii Ironman Champion and perhaps the highest profile triathlete in the world. Macca, as he is known in the triathlon community, has had an extraordinary career. Macca, whose father hails from Scotland and whose mother was from a noble Maori bloodline, took the triathlon world by storm when in 1996 as a virtual unknown triathlete, he won both the World Championships and the World Cup Points Series over the same distances as the Escape to Bermuda Triathlon. Since then he has become a legend in the sport having moved up to the much longer Ironman distance racing in which he has won 11 titles including his victory in the famous Hawaii Ironman Triathlon in 2007, a title he defends this weekend in Hawaii.
