Club Maserati France MODENA la lettre du Club Novembre 2012 Le mot du Président Chers Amis . Nous sommes très proches de l’assemblée générale du 2 décembre où vous seront exposés résultats et réalisations de l’année 2012 mais surtout notre programme 2013 ainsi que suggestions et propositions diverses pour une évolution du Club. Votre présence et participation nous est donc nécessaire. Lors du Mondial de l’Automobile où nombreux vous avez pu apprécier le stand Maserati, sa présen- tation et l’accueil qui nous a été réservé, tout le monde savait que Maserati avait dans ses cartons de nouveaux modèles. Le secret est levé et l’article qui est consacré à la nouvelle quattroporte devrait satisfaire tous ceux qui attendaient ce moment. La dernière manifestation du Club, présence au salon Epoqu’auto de Lyon sera évoquée dans la lettre de décembre. Afin de noircir un peu de papier et de remplir les étranges lucarnes (comme disait le Canard Enchainé) il se trouve une personnalité parisienne pleine d’idées (noires) pour ralentir la progression automobile en région parisienne. La Fédération française des véhicules d’époque est tout de suite montée au créneau. Suite au prochain numéro ? Cordialement à tous. I think it is a means of transport that an individual has at their command at any time to travel were ever they wish. Many forms of transport have been used for that purpose throughout the ages. The horse with or without a carriage or other wheeled vehicle was the most commonly used of various animals to provide a means of transport. The boat in one form or another has been used for the same purpose on water. With the advent of railways their have been private trains, but usually such a conveyance was for heads of state and the fabulously rich.From the beginning of the development of powered flight most forms of aircraft have been used for personal transport by a very small percentage of the population. The entire above has limitations in one form or another, from range of operation, area of use or predominately high cost of ownership and running costs. When introduced the bicycle was a relatively low cost innovation that provided personal transport to a great number of people and still does for millions through out the world. -

ECONOMICAL CRISIS AND BUSINESS STRATEGIES: FASA-RENAULT IN SPAIN DURING THE SEVENTIES Tomàs Fernández-de-Sevilla Universitat de Barcelona Very preliminary version. Please do not quote. 1. Introduction FASA-Renault became the leader in sales in the Spanish car market through the seventies. It also became the leading car manufacturer in Spain. The Spanish car market contracted in five years during the period 1970-80, and its growth was above 10% only in two years. In contrast, FASA-Renault’s sales increased along the whole period, and they even grew at a rate above 15% in 6 of these years. In addition, production increase was even higher than that of sales. FASA-Renault found in exports a solution to the Spanish market limitations. The objective of this article is to show those factors that allowed FASA-Renault to success during the oil crisis that strongly affected the Spanish industry. 2. Background of the automotive industry in Spain (1953-1972) The Spanish automotive industry started in the middle of the twentieth century when SEAT and FASA companies were founded. Both companies manufactured rebadged cars models under the license of foreign companies. SEAT manufactured rebadged FIAT cars and FASA, rebadged Renault cars. In 1953, both companies launched their first vehicles. In that year, a total amount of 2.052 cars were manufactured in Spain. The country was ranked eighteenth in the car manufacturing countries ranking. However, twenty years later it was placed in the tenth position, with a yearly output of 632,585 vehicles. In 1973, along with SEAT and FASA, operated Citroën-Hispania, Chrysler-España (Barreiros) and AUTHI.
