Fungicidas evaluados con sus respectivos tratamientos. 40 12 RESUMEN Los cultivos de flores día a día enfrentan problemas fitosanitarios donde se incluyen enfermedades causadas por hongos y bacterias los cuales disminuyen la calidad del producto final generando grandes perdidas económicas. El interés del proyecto fue evaluar tres tratamientos para 10 productos utilizados en el control de A. dianthi, C. echinulatum, F, roseum y R. solani hongos presentes en bancos de enraizamiento de clavel. Los productos se evaluaron mediante las técnicas in vitro de pozos, sensidiscos y trozos, lo que permite definir el mejor producto químico o biológico de control, expresado en porcentaje o halos de inhibición micelial, mediante un análisis de varianza ANOVA multifactorial. De acuerdo a los resultado obtenidos en la investigación el mejor producto fue Trichoderma spp, el cual mostró una eficaz inhibición de los hongos fitopatógenos evaluados, seguido de procloraz, carboxin + captan, etridiazol y metalaxil + mancozeb. Para los tratamientos se encontró diferencia estadísticamente significativa siendo el Tratamiento 1 el que mostró mas eficacia en la evaluación de los productos. Entre las técnicas de pozos y sensidiscos no se evidencio una diferencia estadísticamente significativa, pues los resultados para ambas técnicas fueron homogéneos. La acción fungistática o fungicida de los productos no se logro evaluar mediante la técnica de bloques pues se encontraron desventajas en el montaje de la técnica. 13 ABSTRACT The flowers’ crops day by day have problems phytosanitary, illnesses which include caused by fungi and bacteria which reduce the quality of the final product generating great economic losses. The interest of the project was to evaluate three treatments for 10 products used in controlling A. dianthi, C. echinulatum, F. roseum and R. solani fungus present in rooting banks of carnation.

Mycosphere 10(1), 798–1079, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/10/1/19 Abstract Endophytic fungi are symptomless internal inhabits of plant tissues. They are implicated in the production of antibiotic and other compounds of therapeutic importance. Ecologically they provide several benefits to plants, including protection from plant pathogens. There have been numerous studies on the biodiversity and ecology of endophytic fungi. Some taxa dominate and occur frequently when compared to others due to adaptations or capabilities to produce different primary and secondary metabolites. It is therefore of interest to examine different fungal species and major taxonomic groups to which these fungi belong for bioactive compound production. In the present paper a list of endophytes based on the available literature is reported. More than 800 genera have been reported worldwide. Dominant genera are Alternaria, Aspergillus, Colletotrichum, Fusarium, Penicillium, and Phoma. Most endophyte studies have been on angiosperms followed by gymnosperms. Among the different substrates, leaf endophytes have been studied and analyzed in more detail when compared to other parts. Most investigations are from Asian countries such as China, India, European countries such as Germany, Spain and the UK in addition to major contributions from Brazil and the USA.

    Diseases of Specific Florist Crops Keeping florist crops free of disease requires constant care and planning. Prevention is the basis of freedom from disease and should be an integral part of the general cultural program. The symptoms of the diseases of major florist crops are described individually by crop in a series of fact sheets. Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) Note: Use culture-indexed plants, and steam-pasteurize or fumigate growing media and beds. • Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. dianthi): Stunting, wilting, foliar yellowing or browning, purplish vascular discoloration. • Rhizoctonia stem rot: Brown canker at the soil line. • Alternaria leaf spot (Alternaria dianthi): Ashy white spots with dark fungus spore structures on the center of older spots. • Bacterial wilt (Pseudomonas caryophylli): Sudden wilting and drying of the top of the plant or of one branch. Vascular system shows yellow streaks. Root system also decays, and sticky cankered areas may appear at the base of the stem. Symptoms appear at high temperatures. Discard infected plants immediately. Fortunately, this disease is eliminated by culture indexing. • Fusarium stem rot (Fusarium roseum): Roots and stem base may be rotted and discolored. • Botrytis flower spot: First shows on outer petals on outside of bud. • Rust (Uromyces caryophyllinus): Reddish-brown spore pustules on leaves and stems. • Fusarium bud rot (Fusarium tricinctum poae): Fungus spores are carried to the buds by grass mites. Petals inside bud decay first. • Greasy blotch (Zygophiala jamaicensis): Spots with radiating, spider web-like margins. .

Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni Solan, Himachal Pradesh Received on 16 April, 2007, Revised on 8 June, 2007 SUMMARY For the establishment of callus cultures of carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.), internodal segments were used as explants. Maximum percentage of callus induction was obtained on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 2.0 mg/l kinetin. Whereas, maximum shoot regeneration was obtained on medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l 6-benzyladenine (BA) and 0.5 mg/l NAA. Well developed root system was obtained on liquid MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l indole–3-butyric acid (IBA) and 0.2 per cent activated charcoal. Calli were subjected to different concentrations of culture filtrate of Alternaria dianthi and cell survival at 15 per cent selective dose of culture filtrate was 11.67 per cent. Selected calli showed significantly higher levels of biochemical constituents viz., total sugars, phenols, reducing sugars and proteins as compared to non-selected calli. Banding patterns of isozymes esterase, peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase were different in selected and non selected calli. In vitro shoot regeneration from selected calli was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l thidiazuron (TDZ). Given increasing interest in asymptomatic fungal endophytes as potential biological control agents, surveys are needed to better characterize their diversity, distribution patterns and possible applications in integrated pest management. We sampled multiple varieties of cotton in Texas, USA and tested for temporal and spatial variation in fungal endophyte diversity and community composition, as well as for differences associated with organic and conventional farming practices. Fungal isolates were identified by morphological and DNA identification methods. We found members of the genera Alternaria, Colletotrichum and Phomopsis, previously isolated as endophytes from other plant species. Other recovered species such as Drechslerella dactyloides (formerly Arthrobotrys dactyloides) and Exserohilum rostratum have not, to our knowledge, been previously reported as endophytes in cotton. We also isolated many latent pathogens, but some species such as Alternaria tennuissima, Epicoccum nigrum, Acremonium alternatum, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Chaetomium globosum and Paecilomyces sp., are known to be antagonists against plant pathogens, insects and nematode pests.

The recent drop in DNA sequencing costs offers, for the first time, the opportunity to study multiple plant pathogens simultaneously in their naturally occurring environment effectively at large scale. In this thesis, my aims were (1) to employ next-generation sequencing (NGS) based metabarcoding for the detection and identification of plant pathogens at the ecosystem scale in New Zealand, (2) to characterise plant pathogen communities, and (3) to determine the environmental drivers of these communities.
