  • No War on IRAN!
No War on IRAN! The press conference for the Korean NGO that denounces U.S.'act of war' and opposes Korean troop dispatch The Trump administration has committed an utterly unpardonable act of war. Last January 3rd (local time) they assassinated Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian Major General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, through a drone strike at Bagdad Airport. In response, Iran declared a ‘harsh retaliation’ on the 8th(local time) and carried out an attack against the U.S. by launching a dozen or so missiles at two U.S. army bases in Iraq. Later, the Foreign Minister of Iran said that they did not seek further military escalation or war. Likewise, President Trump announced that he did not want to use more military force, which fortunately stopped the situation from getting out of control. The assassination of General Soleimani is a clear violation of international law and an act of war that infringes upon Iraq’s sovereignty. The U.S. government argues that Commander Soleimani plotted an attack against U.S. facilities in Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria. However, the U.S. government failed to provide specific evidence concerning this and the Iraq government has also fully denied such claims. This is the reason why such criticisms against the violation of the UN charter, that attacking another country is prohibited unless one’s own country is attacked or unless it is approved by the UN Security Council, have arisen. Furthermore, it is unjustifiable for a third power to proceed with a military operation of murdering an independent nation’s high-ranking official without notifying the Iraq government.

  • The Pyeongchang Olympics and Solving the Korean Crisis with Goodwill Posted on 02 Mar·Ch 2018 Tags
Received by NSD/FAR.t\ Registration Unit 09/26/2018 3:32:49 PM The PyeongChang Olympics and Solving the Korean Crisis with Goodwill Posted On 02 Mar·ch 2018 Tags. diplomacy By Casey Robinson In January, the South Korean government extended its hand to the Kim regime by offering high, level talks to d.iscuss North Korea's possible participation at the Winter Olympics, to which the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un responded positively and ordered a reopening of the Panmunjom hotline. The international community was generally optimistic towards this development. Even President Trump, who has shown a willingness to use force to protect American interests, commented that inter-Korean talks are a good thing and even suggested his willingness to speak with Kim Jong-un himself. Many acts of goodwill came from these high-level talks. North and South Korea agreed to participate as a unified team at the Winter Olympics under one flag with inter-Korean team practices in the North. In additfon, the United States rnay have also displayed a sign of goodwill by decreasing funding for human rights and freedom of information programs in North Korea. Decreasing its budget towards these issues may show the North Korean government thatthe United States is potentially no longer be interested in undermining the Kim regime. However, the Moon administration's attempt at rapprochement with North Korea may only be good for the short0 term, until the closing of the Winter Olympics. Without the incentive of sports diplomacy, all three governments may likely return to provocations as there is no sense of confidence in their respective adversary.

1316 NGOs working on diverse human rights issues, from 174 States and territories around the world call for the renewal of the mandate of the Independent Expert on violence and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity 41st session of the Human Rights Council Item 8. General Debate Oral Statement Speaker: Phylesha Brown – Acton Mr. President, I have the honour to deliver this statement that was endorsed by 1316 organisations working on diverse topics. Around the world, millions of people face human rights violations and abuses because of their real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity (SOGI). These abuses include: killings and extrajudicial executions; torture, rape and sexual violence; enforced disappearance; forced displacement; criminalization; arbitrary detentions; blackmail and extortion; police violence and harassment; bullying; stigmatization; hate speech; denial of one’s self defined gender identity; forced medical treatment, and/or forced sterilization; repression of the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly, religion or belief; attacks and restrictions on human rights defenders; denial of services and hampered access to justice; discrimination in all spheres of life including in employment, healthcare, housing, education and cultural traditions; and other multiple and intersecting forms of violence and discrimination. These grave and widespread violations take place in conflict and non-conflict situations, are perpetrated by State and non-State actors (including the victims’ families and communities) and impact all spheres of life. In 2016, this Human Rights Council took definitive action to systematically address these abuses, advance positive reforms and share best practices – through regular reporting, constructive dialogue and engagement – and created an Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI).

  • 6. Adopted Resolution 5Th Global Greens Congress
EGP Council, Tampere, 8 - 10 November 2019 Adopted Resolution - subject to proofreading 5th Global Greens Congress in South Korea in Summer 2021: an opportunity for an international green wave The purpose of this resolution is to: 1. Affirm the importance of the Global Greens as the confederation of Green political parties and organisations around the world. We are dedicated to implementing with solidarity our common values of participatory democracy, sustainability, social justice, nonviolence, respect for diversity and ecological wisdom. 2. Announce that the 5th Global Greens (GG) Congress will be held jointly with the Asia Pacific Greens Federation (APGF) and hosted by Green Party Korea (GPK) in Seoul, South Korea, summer 2021. 3. Motivate all Federations and Parties of the Global Greens to be actively involved in the organisation of a “Global Democratic and Climate Smart Congress 2021”. 4. Suggests that the Global Greens invite representatives of people’s non-violent movements to attend or participate in any way. Global Greens congresses must be increasingly climate-smart and exemplars of our common values. To enable participation without traveling long-distance, all Green Parties are invited to host a congress session in their home country which will be broadcast and integrated into the global programme. This is an exciting opportunity to: - Raise awareness about each country’s politics and party to people across 100+ countries as well as to reach voters and media of each country; - Receive input from Greens colleagues around the world on an issue important to green parties on the topic of climate & democracy. We, the European Greens with the Global Greens - Propose that session details will be discussed in a GG Congress Forum.

  • Manifesto Project Dataset List of Political Parties
Manifesto Project Dataset List of Political Parties [email protected] Website: https://manifesto-project.wzb.eu/ Version 2020b from December 23, 2020 Manifesto Project Dataset - List of Political Parties Version 2020b 1 Coverage of the Dataset including Party Splits and Merges The following list documents the parties that were coded at a specific election. The list includes the name of the party or alliance in the original language and in English, the party/alliance abbreviation as well as the corresponding party identification number. In the case of an alliance, it also documents the member parties it comprises. Within the list of alliance members, parties are represented only by their id and abbreviation if they are also part of the general party list. If the composition of an alliance has changed between elections this change is reported as well. Furthermore, the list records renames of parties and alliances. It shows whether a party has split from another party or a number of parties has merged and indicates the name (and if existing the id) of this split or merger parties. In the past there have been a few cases where an alliance manifesto was coded instead of a party manifesto but without assigning the alliance a new party id. Instead, the alliance manifesto appeared under the party id of the main party within that alliance. In such cases the list displays the information for which election an alliance manifesto was coded as well as the name and members of this alliance. 2 Albania ID Covering Abbrev Parties No. Elections
