A British Reflection: the Relationship Between Dante's Comedy and The
A British Reflection: the Relationship between Dante’s Comedy and the Italian Fascist Movement and Regime during the 1920s and 1930s with references to the Risorgimento. Keon Esky A thesis submitted in fulfilment of requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. University of Sydney 2016 KEON ESKY Fig. 1 Raffaello Sanzio, ‘La Disputa’ (detail) 1510-11, Fresco - Stanza della Segnatura, Palazzi Pontifici, Vatican. KEON ESKY ii I dedicate this thesis to my late father who would have wanted me to embark on such a journey, and to my partner who with patience and love has never stopped believing that I could do it. KEON ESKY iii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS This thesis owes a debt of gratitude to many people in many different countries, and indeed continents. They have all contributed in various measures to the completion of this endeavour. However, this study is deeply indebted first and foremost to my supervisor Dr. Francesco Borghesi. Without his assistance throughout these many years, this thesis would not have been possible. For his support, patience, motivation, and vast knowledge I shall be forever thankful. He truly was my Virgil. Besides my supervisor, I would like to thank the whole Department of Italian Studies at the University of Sydney, who have patiently worked with me and assisted me when I needed it. My sincere thanks go to Dr. Rubino and the rest of the committees that in the years have formed the panel for the Annual Reviews for their insightful comments and encouragement, but equally for their firm questioning, which helped me widening the scope of my research and accept other perspectives. -

I Luoghi Del Nostro Beato Francesco Maria Greco
Ordine Costantiniano 2011.Qxd:Layout 1
Cronache Costantiniane Maggio 2011 - Luglio 2012 Editorial Every year we celebrate our birthday; on October 29 of this year, our ancient Constantinian Order of Saint George will celebrate its 17th century of life. As we all know, the Order was founded by the Emperor Constantine to defend, after the taking of Rome, the famous "Constantinian Labarum". The third millennium sees our Order increasingly projected into the future and to overcome the old boundaries to take on an increasingly international connotation but never stopping to remember the past in the process. In the general session of July 2011 in Geneva on the UN Economic and Social Council decided to grant from August 1, 2011, the special consultative status to the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George. The personal relationships of the Grand Master and Princess Camilla are often propaedeutic to the purposes of the Order, as recently happened in London, where in the Cathedral of Westminster where the Grand Master has presided over the investiture of the new Knights and Dames of the British and Irish delegations after the celebration of the Mass in Latin by the Grand Prior, His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino and the Vice-prior of the delegation, His Most Reverend Excellence Mrs. George Stack, Archbishop of Cardiff. Always in London, our Prince and Princess have received the Freedom of City of London at Stationer's Hall, a prestigious recognition that for the first time was awarded to an Italian Lady. Only a few days ago Charles and Camilla of Bourbon received, with the Delegate of Rome, Prince Ruspoli, the King of Tonga George Topou V, the only absolute monarch of Polynesia, who reigns over a small state composed of 169 islands, and to whom they have awarded the Royal Order of Francis I with the secret hope of being able to inculcate the constantine moral also to the polynesian nobles. -

Summer 2012 Take Note Visit us online @ www.amsu.org Update from the President Letter from the Principal Dear Alumnae and Friends, Dear Alumnae and Friends, This TAKE NOTE comes to you after a “The end of a melody remarkable winter in the northeast. is not its goal: but, The birds started singing and the nonetheless, had the daffodils were blooming by the melody not reached its second week in March! Spring fever end it would not have started early for all of us, but no one reached its goal either.” is complaining. Our registration for (Nietzsche) incoming freshmen looks promising, considering the many hurdles It’s hard to believe catholic schools continue to face. A that we’ve reached the redesigned website, TV commercial, conclusion of another and print advertisements brought the successful academic school into the limelight. Our tuition will be $6975, making an Ursuline year. For faculty, staff, and students alike, this greatly education affordable for many struggling families, but placing a heavier anticipated ending of one year is not merely a segue into burden on our development efforts. This year we anticipate providing another; instead, it is an indication of achievement, a goal nearly one million dollars in financial aid to families with proven needs. We pursued and attained. While the melody of academic year are able to do this because of the overwhelming generosity of the Bedford 2011-2012 has faded and the halls are now empty and Park Community of Ursulines, the Eastern Province of Ursulines, and the quiet, in such a world where endings signal new beginnings, loyal support of our alums and benefactors.
