Life of Saint Francis of Assisi
SpirtuJournal of Franciscanu CultureĦajja Issued by the Franciscan Friars (OFM Malta) Spirtu u Ħajja April - June 2009 1 APRIL88 - JUNE 2009 Editorial «GO OUT OF THE TENT» e are the in the aftermath of the celebration of the Chapter of Mats of the Franciscan Family in Assisi during the EasterW octave week. This has been an impressive gathering of members of the Franciscan Family worldwide, together with the respective Ministers General. The Chapter commemorated 800 years of Franciscan presence and history in the Church, ever since the approval of the first Form of Life written by Saint Francis and presented to Pope Innocent III in the spring of 1209. This issue of our Franciscan Review is dedicated in a special way to this event. It is important for all Franciscans, especially younger Franciscans in formation, to appreciate our roots and our history, in order to love our Family that has been one of the greatest achievements of the Catholic Church. I was talking to some of our young friars from the Holy Land Custody of the Friars Minor who took part in this Chapter of Quarterly journal of 88 Mats. Like many others of their age they returned enthusiastic and Franciscan culture published enriched by their experience. They told me that they appreciated since April 1986 the talks given by prominent Franciscan leaders and scholars, as well as the special audience given to them by Pope Benedict XVI at Computer Setting: Castel Gandolfo. John Abela ofm One thing struck them most, though. They told me that, Joseph Magro ofm among all the ones who conveyed messages to them, they can never forget what our ex-Minister General Giacomo Bini ofm had to say Printed copies on request to them. -
Franciscan Youth Today
FRANCISCAN YOUTH TODAY XIII General Chapter of the OFS Sao Paolo, October 28, 2011 Ana Fruk, Presidency councilor for YouFra 1. YOUFRA AS AN ANSWER TO THE CHALLENGES OF OUR TIME When I was preparing this report, I was thinking about what the most important issues are for YouFra today. While I was reading different texts to prepare myself, I found words of blessed Pope John Paul II which he spoke during the Vigil for the Feast of Pentecost in 1998 and which also express a very clear call for Franciscan Youth: “Thus we see an urgent need for powerful proclamation and solid, in-depth Christian formation. There is so much need today for mature Christian personalities, conscious of their baptismal identity, of their vocation and mission in the Church and in the world! There is great need for living Christian communities! And here are the movements and the new ecclesial communities: they are the response, given by the Holy Spirit, to this critical challenge at the end of the millennium. You are this providential response.” Keeping in mind this last sentence: “You are this providential response”, I thought of the responsibility that Franciscan youth has towards the Church and society in which we live. Reading different documents of the OFS on YouFra, I see this same message is recognized by the OFS. That is why in the past several years the attention has been given to YouFra and its development. Here I would like to say a few words on several issues about YouFra which mostly coincide with the Conclusions of the last General Chapter held in Hungary – formation, presence in the world, communication and emerging fraternities. -

Interactions Between Reflection and Praxis in the History of Economic Thought
Interactions between Reflection and Praxis in the History of Economic Thought. The Case of the Franciscan Circles from XIII Century Assisi to the Present Daniela PARISI Revista Cultura Económica Año XXIX • Nº 80 Agosto 2011: 29-40 I. Introductory remarks I would like to start from the evidence that the Franciscan movement, which developed In all its long history the Church has from and around the Franciscan order, always been aware of the challenge the world began as an attempt at social and religious presents. This awareness has been a stimulus reformation. to reflect on the reality of worldly affairs, and Gratuity, brotherhood, giving - we doubtless the awareness itself has been provoked by find difficulty in defining convincingly what thought and discussion not only within the we mean by these words. We tend to form our Church. In this contribution I wish to refer to ideas on these fundamental concepts only 2 the dynamic interactions between reflection when we come across concrete situations . and praxis within the Church, in particular, Even the philosophical reflection of our within Franciscan circles. (Etchegaray et al., own times confirms these doubts and makes 1989; Boswell, McHugh, Verstraeten et al., me more confident in following this method, 2000). I wish to start from the evidence that in trying to achieve more clarity in defining Francis of Assisi interrupted the silence about meanings. Ordine Costantiniano 2011.Qxd:Layout 1
Cronache Costantiniane Maggio 2011 - Luglio 2012 Editorial Every year we celebrate our birthday; on October 29 of this year, our ancient Constantinian Order of Saint George will celebrate its 17th century of life. As we all know, the Order was founded by the Emperor Constantine to defend, after the taking of Rome, the famous "Constantinian Labarum". The third millennium sees our Order increasingly projected into the future and to overcome the old boundaries to take on an increasingly international connotation but never stopping to remember the past in the process. In the general session of July 2011 in Geneva on the UN Economic and Social Council decided to grant from August 1, 2011, the special consultative status to the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George. The personal relationships of the Grand Master and Princess Camilla are often propaedeutic to the purposes of the Order, as recently happened in London, where in the Cathedral of Westminster where the Grand Master has presided over the investiture of the new Knights and Dames of the British and Irish delegations after the celebration of the Mass in Latin by the Grand Prior, His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino and the Vice-prior of the delegation, His Most Reverend Excellence Mrs. George Stack, Archbishop of Cardiff. Always in London, our Prince and Princess have received the Freedom of City of London at Stationer's Hall, a prestigious recognition that for the first time was awarded to an Italian Lady. Only a few days ago Charles and Camilla of Bourbon received, with the Delegate of Rome, Prince Ruspoli, the King of Tonga George Topou V, the only absolute monarch of Polynesia, who reigns over a small state composed of 169 islands, and to whom they have awarded the Royal Order of Francis I with the secret hope of being able to inculcate the constantine moral also to the polynesian nobles.
