Changes 1996–2000 in the List of Finnish Insects © Entomologica Fennica. 28 December 2001 Changes 1996–2000 in the list of Finnish insects Hans Silfverberg Silfverberg, H. 2001: Changes 1996–2000 in the list of Finnish insects. — Entomol. Fennica 12: 217–243. During the period 127 species have been deleted from the list of Finnish insects, and 555 species have been added to it. At the end of the year 2000, a total of 19 977 insect species were recorded from Finland. Hans Silfverberg, Zoological Museum, P.O. The previous paper in this series was published by Spenceb, (1969b). Four species, previously incorrectly identified, are described below as new; three new synonyms are established; two species, previously synonymised, are now resurrected; and the male genitalia of 17 further species are illustrated. In addition, revised keys are provided for the generaPhytobia L ioy andAmauromyza H en d el. I particularly wish to thank the following persons for the loan of type material: Dr. W. Wiegmann c a Systematic Entomology Laboratory, USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Beltsville, MD 20705, USA b Department of Entomology, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20740, USA c Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC 27695, USA Received 9 January 2006; revised 29 November 2006; accepted 18 December 2006 Available online 31 December 2006 Abstract The leaf-mining Xies (Diptera: Agromyzidae) are a diverse group whose larvae feed internally in leaves, stems, Xowers, seeds, and roots of a wide variety of plant hosts. The systematics of agromyzids has remained poorly known due to their small size and morphological homogeneity. We investigated the phylogenetic relationships among genera within the Agromyzidae using parsimony and Bayesian anal- yses of 2965 bp of DNA sequence data from the mitochondrial COI gene, the nuclear ribosomal 28S gene, and the single copy nuclear CAD gene. We included 86 species in 21 genera, including all but a few small genera, and spanning the diversity within the family. The results from parsimony and Bayesian analyses were largely similar, with major groupings of genera in common. SpeciWcally, both analy- ses recovered a monophyletic Phytomyzinae and a monophyletic Agromyzinae. Within the subfamilies, genera found to be monophyletic given our sampling include Agromyza, Amauromyza, Calycomyza, Cerodontha, Liriomyza, Melanagromyza, Metopomyza, Nemorimyza, Phytobia, and Pseudonapomyza. Several genera were found to be polyphyletic or paraphyletic including Aulagromyza, Chromatomyia, Phytoliriomyza, Phytomyza, and Ophiomyia.

  • En Tomalogiske Meddelelser
En tomalogiske Meddelelser BIND 70 KØBENHAVN 2002 Livsstrategier hos larver af Lycaenidae (Lepidoptera) Arne Viborg Viborg, A.: Life strategi es in larvae of Lycaenidae (Lepidoptera). Ent. Meddr 70: 3-23. Copenhagen, Denmark, 2002. ISSN 0013-8851. This artide reviews the association between lycaenid larvae and ants, and de scribes structure and function of the lycaenid larval an t-organs involved in myrmecophily.

  • Het Euxoa Tritici-Complex in België: Één, Twee of Drie Soorten? (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
Abstract. Euxoa tritici (Linnaeus, 1761) is a very variable species, which has recently been split in a number of morphologically extremely similar species. According to an increasing number of authors, there are three species in Western Europe: Euxoa tritici, Euxoa nigrofusca (Esper, 1788) and Euxoa eruta (Hübner, 1817). However, it seems doubtful that there is enough evidence to elevate these taxa to species rank. An analysis on moths from a range of localities in Flanders (Belgium) and the Netherlands (1987–2014) does not provide clear support for the split of Euxoa tritici in three species in the Low Countries.
