Protocol for North Arm Bay Sonar A.S. Treatment for Control of CLP =EWM Application Protocol Curly Leaf Pondweed = 4 ppb for 21 days
EWM = 2-4 ppb for 90 days
Approximately one to 2 weeks after Ice out, an Initial application of a targeted 4 ppb application of Sonar A.S. liquid fluridone application will take place. Application of Bay wide concentrations will be applied to areas delineated for CLPD in 2017.
North Arm Bay Volumes
Area between Contour and Volume Next Average (acre- Contour Area Contour Depth (feet) ft) 0 320 71 2.5 177.5 5 249 70 7.5 525 10 179 46 12.5 575 15 133 46 17.5 805 20 87 52 25 1300 30 35 28 35 980 40 7 7 65 455 90 0 0 Total 4818
At 7 and 14 days post treatment, a minimum of three water samples will be collected and sent in to determine fluridone concentrations.
Bump Treatments
On day 21 a bump application will be applied to reach 4 ppb concentration using the 14 day concentrations. This provides a (safety net) as concentrations will have decreased since day 14. Bay wide “bumps” will be applied to the 2016 EWM areas.
Total Volume 4818 acre-ft
Dose Sonar: Rate 2 ppb Amount 6.75 Gallons
Volume (0-10 ft) 2492.50 acre-ft
Dose Sonar: Rate 2 ppb Amount 3.39 Gallons
Volume (0-15 ft) 3387.5 acre-ft
Dose Sonar: Rate 2 ppb Amount 4.61 Gallons
Water samples will be collected on days 7, 14, and 21 following the bump application. Additional bump applications will follow so as a target concentration above 2.0 ppb will be maintained greater than 90 days following the initial treatment.
Thermocline determination On the days of treatment, a thermocline will be recorded and product will be allocated to the upper portion. The method used to determine the thermocline depth will be when temperature differences of 2-3 degrees or more in one meter of water.
