Le Festival ‘A la française’ peut compter, et c’est une des caractéristiques de la Chapelle Musicale : le com- pagnonnage, sur la participation de musiciens de réputation internationale comme Augustin Dumay, Gary Hoffman, Jean-Philippe Collard, Abdel Rahman El Bacha ou encore Gérard Caussé, associés notamment aux solistes de la Chapelle.

Cinq jours de festival, 12 concerts & plus de cinquante artistes, le chœur Octopus et deux orchestres belges seront de la partie : l’Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège dirigé par Christian Arming, ainsi que le Brus- sels Philharmonic sous la baguette de Michel Tabachnik.

Devenu une marque de maison pour Flagey, le Festival ‘A la française’ n’est pas exclusivement musical, notons au programme une Soirée Satie mêlant mélodies et extraits de la correspondance presque complète d’Erik Satie. Ce spectacle mis en scène par Jean Bellorini est produit le 15 novembre par l’Académie européenne de musique du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, partenaire de la Chapelle Musicale dans le cadre du réseau ENOA (European Network of Opera Academies).

Le festival n’oublie pas les enfants et leurs familles, à découvrir notamment ‘Le Carnaval des Animaux’ de Saint-Saëns lors d’un concert conté sur les images de Danieli le samedi 17 novembre à 11h. (en collaboration avec la Maison de la Musique).

Et toujours dans cet esprit de ‘compagnonnage’, l’image du festival a fait à nouveau l’objet d’un concours auprès des étudiants de l’Ecole de la Cambre (Ecole nationale supérieure des arts visuels). Flagey expose tous les projets d’affiche pendant la durée du festival.

La clôture du festival, le samedi 17 novembre en soirée, est l’occasion d’entendre le Requiem de Fauré dans sa version pour grand orchestre, version terminée par Fauré en 1901.

Brussels Philharmonic was established in 1935 under the aegis of the public broadcasting network (NIR). The orchestra has performed with leading conductors and soloists and has created new works by world-famous such as Stravinsky, Messiaen and Francesconi. Michel Tabachnik conductor

As Music Director, Michel Tabachnik has been a key figure in the work ofB russels Philharmonic since 2008. His idiosyncratic yet highly accessible programmes, in which the great orchestral repertoire is combined with music from the 20th century, are reaching an ever bigger and wider audience. Together with the orchestra, Tabachnik is also consolidating the sound international reputation built up over the past few years. Michel Tabachnik studied piano, composition and in . After his studies, he was coached by a number of iconic conductors: he was Igor Markevitsj’s assistant and acted for four years as assistant conductor of (in London). After this invited him to conduct his orchestra in Berlin for a number of years.

Since 2011 the new Music Director Christian Arming brings both youth and experience to an orchestra dedicated to excellence, exploration, and a spirit of openness towards all kinds of audiences. Founded in 1960, the OPRL, under the leadership of its founder, Fernand Quinet, and of conductors such as Paul Strauss, Pierre Bartho- lomée, Louis Langrée, and Pascal Rophé, has developed an identity that is unique in Europe – a blend of the discipline of German orchestras and the “transparency” of the French tradition with an openness to new work and to a vast range of repertoire. De Muziekkapel treedt hierdoor de Stichting Bernheim bij in haar streven om een kwalitatieve verbetering te brengen in de materiële en morele situatie van een veertigtal jongeren.

La Loterie Nationale soutient aussi financièrement la construction d’un studio de musique dans la nouvelle aile prévue par l’extension des infrastructures de la Chapelle Musicale. Bijdragen tot het welzijn van de hele gemeenschap: zo kan de bedrijfsfilosofie van de Nationale Loterij worden sa- mengevat. Precies in die optiek laat de Nationale Loterij een aanzienlijk deel van haar winst naar de gemeenschap terugvloeien door haar financiële steun aan een brede waaier van projecten op de meest uiteenlopende vlakken: hu- manitaire en sociale aangelegenheden, cultuur, sport, wetenschap, enz. In die context staat cultuur bij de Nationale Loterij hoog in het vaandel. Of het nu gebeurt via subsidies dan wel via sponsoring, elke dag opnieuw werkt de Natio- nale Loterij mee aan het succes van culturele verenigingen of evenementen: opera, zang, dans, muziek, poëzie, plas- tische kunsten, concerten, tentoonstellingen, festivals, theater, film, enz., waarbij telkens zeer diverse gegadigden worden aangesproken. In dit kader ondersteunt de Natio- nale Loterij de Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth om de mogelijkheid te bieden aan jonge talentvolle musici - violisten, pianisten en zangers - hun opleiding te vervolmaken onder het toeziende oog van grote meesters - Augustin Dumay, Abdel Rahman El Bacha et José Van Dam - en zo een dag te schitteren op de internationale scène. Ook dankzij de steun van Nationale Loterij, heeft de Muziekkapel Koningin Elizabeth in oktober 2005 een sectie van kamermuziek geopend onder leiding van het Artemis Quartet. De Nationale Loterij profileert zich aldus als een overheidsinstelling ten dienste van het publiek. De Nationale Loterij ondersteunt ook finantieel een muziekstudio in de nieuwe vleugel van de Muziekkapel, die door de uitbreiding van de infrastructuur voorzien is.
