Situation Ampney St Peter is a very pretty Cotswold hamlet dating back to Roman times and mentioned in the Domesday Book. Mainly comprising of a sprinkling of 17th and 18th Century cottages and houses, ‘The Ampneys’ are a group of villages that are named after the small Thames tributary, Ampney Brook. There is a parish church, St Peter’s and two pubs within a short distance of the property plus a village shop and post offi ce at nearby Poulton. Cirencester, widely recognised as the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’, is approximately 4 miles away and provides a diverse range of independent shops and boutiques, coff ee shops, bars restaurants and two large supermarkets, Tesco and Waitrose. Primary and secondary schools in the area are fi rst class with a wide range of highly regarded state and private sector schools available including Ampney Crucis primary school, Kingshill and Deer Park secondary schools in Cirencester, Farmors in Fairford, Hatherop Castle, Rendcomb College, Beaudesert Park, the Cheltenham Colleges, Prior Park and Dean Close. Many recreational and sporting facilities are on off er including a number of golf courses, Cirencester rugby and football clubs, polo at Beaufort and Cirencester, hunting with the VWH and an array of water sports at the Cotswold Water Park. The village is particularly desirable and the approach to the cottage is very attractive being neighboured by a selection of other period properties.
