His season opening in Monza was impressive: 2 pole positions and a win. Backed by the Red Bull Junior Team, he leads the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with reigning team Dams. 02’20’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ JUNIOR #1 (ESP – Dams) In ENGLISH “I remember waking up for every Melbourne race at 4 in the morning to watch Formula One. At my age - I was 5 years old - it was not very common. And I said: yeah, one day I would like to race there! I started really really young, like at 3 or 4 years old. The I had a bit of a shock in one moment, and my Mum, myself and my Dad did not like it because this accident was a bit nasty. But at the end, 4 years later, I could not resist to go karting again…” 02’58’’ Voice Over: He also must cope with a very famous name, as his dad is a double WRC champion and a Dakar winner. 03’08’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ JUNIOR #1 (ESP – Dams) In ENGLISH “You always feel a bit more pressure: instead of having only your dad’s eyes watching you, you have ten eyes more, you are the son of Carlos Sainz... But with the age I got used to it.” 4 03’23’’ (continues) “My motorsport references are, obviously my dad, but my ideal career would be Sebastian Vettel, because he went trough exactly the steps I would like to follow, with Red Bull. Then, as a driver, I really like Fernando Alonso.” 03’42’’ Voice Over: By the way, he develops his own style. After a struggling up and down 2013 season, he is now on a full charge to clinch the supreme World Series by Renault title. 03’51’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ SENIOR – Former WRC champion and Dakar winner. He has been a champion and in every sport he knows what a champion needs to have inside.” 04’28’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ SENIOR – Former WRC champion and Dakar winner. In ENGLISH “I am not that much involved. He is in a very good team. You need to give him a lot of space. I am just behind, watching. If he needs me for an advice, I’am there…” 04’44’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ JUNIOR #1 (ESP – Dams) In ENGLISH “At the moment I am 19 years old, so for sure I nearly need to work in all areas. The only thing you cannot improve is talent. In terms of speed, I know and everyone knows that I can be very quick. Now I need to find the consistency in every meeting, in every free practice, every qualifying, every race. Obviously I rate the Fortec guys really high, I rate Gasly and Buller really high, I rate 5 Stevens, Jaafar and Sorensen really high, so I can expect everything. At the moment, if you start thinking of Formula One, you stop focusing on your main thing, which is Formula Renault 3.5 this year. So for the moment I am not thinking at all about this…” 05’38’’ Jingle Feature Motorland technical facts 05’43’’ Opening Clip - Do not talk 05’53’’ ITW Benoît DUPONT Sporting Manager Renault Sport Technologies In FRENCH “Motorland Aragon is a recent and modern circuit, coping the latest FIA standards. Any single mistake in those first corners, you pay the price.” 06’20’’ (continues…) “It’s a full range of driving track. Need to find the rhythm: fast corners, tricky sections, straights, strong braking, lot’s of overtaking opportunities. 06’37’’ (continues) “The longest straight is interesting with a top speed close to 300 KPH. It’s where the DRS offers its best efficiency, with a bonus of 10 KPH.” 06’56’’ (continues…) “Set-up wise, it’s between Monza and Monaco. It’s a Medium downforce track.” 07’13’’ Jingle Highlights Formula Renault 3.5 Series Race 1 07’18’’ Race Start From his third pole position in a row, Carlos SAINZ JUNIOR #1 (ESP – Dams) makes a slow start and must change his line and break late to defend P1 versus Nikolay MARTSENKO #27 (RUS – Comtec Racing). The driving style between Formula One and DTM is exactly the same – I didn’t have to change anything. It looks like the speed is there, we’ll see next weekend how we are doing. It’s still a car with four wheels and a steering wheel! I never have to clean my helmet, and I don’t get wet when it rains – so this is quite nice. Just to get in and out of the car is so hard!” 01’09’’ Do not talk 01’19” ITW Antonio Felix DA COSTA (POR – Infiniti Red Bull Racing Test And Reserve Driver) IN ENGLISH “It’s nice to be back, I miss this. It’s a good series and it’s nice when you walk in the paddock you feel this family, which is nice. It’s full of great drivers as always – you’ve got all kinds here, and it’s too early to say.
