  • Time to Go Racing with the New Aston Martin Vantage GTE
Time to go racing with the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE • Aston Martin Vantage GTE to make its racing debut at Spa-Francorchamps • Team confident car is competitive and reliable ahead of season • Aston Martin Racing begins historic Super Season with world class driver line-up Tuesday 1 May, Spa-Francorchamps: The new Aston Martin Vantage GTE will make its long- awaited debut in the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Super Season at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend (3-5 May). The Aston Martin Vantage GTE is based on the critically-acclaimed Aston Martin Vantage road car, the most performance oriented sports car to come from Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century Plan’. Powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 turbo-charged AMG engine developed and optimised by AMR, the Vantage GTE is the first all-new GT car Aston Martin has introduced to the FIA WEC GTE category in seven years. Following an extensive 10-month testing and development programme that has covered 35,000km and 14 different circuits, the team is confident that it has a competitive and reliable car capable of repeating Aston Martin Racing's 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours glory in June and contending for the overall Super Season GTE Pro title. Aston Martin Racing also boasts a world class driving line-up in 2018. The GTE Pro roster includes three-time Le Mans winner Darren Turner, who is joined in the #95 car by 2016 FIA WEC GTE Pro champions Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen. BMW Corporate Communications Media Information DTM 17th June 2017 Two podiums for BMW: Glock and Spengler finish second and third in Hungary thanks to a daring strategy. • Early pit stops bring Glock and Spengler podiums at the Hungaroring. • Spengler celebrates his first podium since Moscow 2016. • Wittmann also finished in the points in ninth place. Hungaroring. Timo Glock (GER) and Bruno Spengler (CAN) finished second and third in Saturday’s turbulent race at the Hungaroring (HUN) after a strong catch-up race, which saw them claim the third and fourth podiums of the season for BMW Motorsport. Both drivers benefitted from a daring strategy with early pit stops, which paid off after a safety car phase. Marco Wittmann (GER) in ninth also finished in the points. A collision forced Maxime Martin (BEL) and Tom Blomqvist (GBR) to retire. Augusto Farfus (BRA) was in fifth place when he was hit by a rival and the resulting spin saw him drop right down the field. Qualifying: Augusto Farfus in the Shell BMW M4 DTM achieved his best qualifying result of the season and started the race as the best-placed BMW driver in sixth on the grid. His personal fastest lap time was 1:32.275 minutes. Tom Blomqvist in the BMW Driving Experience M4 DTM in tenth place also made it into the top ten. Maxime Martin (SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM), Timo Glock (DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM), Marco Wittmann (Red Bull BMW M4 DTM) and Bruno Spengler (BMW Bank M4 DTM) followed in positions 12, 14, 15 and 17. The race: Augusto Farfus got off to a good start from sixth on the grid and moved up a place.

  • Audi Sport Wins at Spa with Michelin: a Double Stint-And-A-Half on the Same Tyres!
MEDIA INFORMATION May 2, 2015 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps Audi Sport wins at Spa with Michelin: a double stint-and-a-half on the same tyres! The 2015 6 Hours of Spa (Saturday, May 2) saw victory go to the N°7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Fässler/Lotterer/Tréluyer. After monopolising the top three places in Friday’s qualifying, Porsche started the event as favourite. As expected, the three Porsche 919 Hybrids got away to a strong start to lead the 2015 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps early on, chased by the Audi Sport and Toyota Racing prototypes which jostled for position in their wake. This situation looked set to last but it evolved as the teams started to run differing tyre strategies after all the LM P1 factory teams had begun the race on MICHELIN’s ‘soft high temperature’ compound. Toyota Racing was the first team to double stint, on Lap 21, when Alexander Wurz pitted the N°2 Toyota TS 040 Hybrid and re-joined the race 1m4s afterwards with the same tyres on its car’s left wheels. The Austrian was followed into the pits on Lap 22 by Sébastien Buemi in the N°1 sister car which went back out without a change of rubber, saving around 20 seconds in the process to hold its place among the front-runners. The first Audi Sport driver to double stint was Marco Bonanomi in the N°9 Audi R18 e-tron quattro when the car made its second stop on Lap 47.
